What's the best product to keep ticks of a dog? I've been going on weekly walks with the boys and the dog at the local lakes, and every time the dog comes home covered in ticks. Yesterday I picked at least 20 off of him, and found 4 more just this morning. He gets Frontline monthly. I've tried spraying him down with regular DEET bug spray
(which I have sinced learned can be very toxic to dogs) right before we go, and it seems to help some, but he still gets a bunch. Is there some other bug spray or product that I can apply to keep the ticks off? Or is it just to be expected when walking through thick grass in the summertime?

Frontline. Once every 30 days for application.

Frontline and such only keep the ticks from feeding, but it won't keep them from hopping on as your dog walks through the grass. Nothing will keep them off entirely. You could try permethrin, it works as a repellent. They'll still get on him, but hopefully crawl off before you get home.

Seresto collar. Cut into pieces a couple inches long and tape to your dogs collar with electricians tape. Replace every couple of weeks. I just use ingestable because we don't have them bad here, but I know folks who have good luck with this. Seresto kills on contact, ticks don't need to bite.

Seresto collar has pesticide in it that it time releases.

the topical monthly treatment Vectra and Frontline have pesticide in oil that time release.

Permethrin concentrate diluted to appropriate label solution for washing dogs bonds to the hair fiber when it dries and provides a pesticide conditions vary as to how long it lasts , a week to a month.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Years ago we used to use Avon Skin So Soft on our beagles. It seemed to work pretty good. It kept the flys from bothering them.
