How basic do you want to get? Refrigerator pickles in 1 gallon jar 7 cups sliced cukes 1 cup sliced onions 1cup sliced green peppers 2 Tbsp salt 1 Tbsp celery salt Syrup 2cups sugar 1 cup vinegar stir until sugar is dissolved and pour over cuk mixture. Refrigerate. enjoy tomorrow

Glad this came up I just picked a bunch so I will be watching this . I’m looking for a sweet pickle if anybody will share. THIS IS THE RECIPE THAT I USE TOMMIE. I GOT IT FROM A GUY I WORKED WITH YEARS AGO. HE SAID IT WAS HIS WIFE'S GRANDMOTHER'S. SO IT IS AT LEAST A 100 YEARS OLD. I HAVE MY SECOND BATCH "WORKING" NOW. REALLY GOOD SWEET PICKLE. HERE GOES: 2 GALS. CUKES CUT IN STRIPS (use small ones or cut strips no longer than 3" makes them easier to pack in jars) AND PLACE IN CONTAINER (either plastic or earthenware). BOIL 1 GAL. WATER 2 CUPS SALT AND POUR OVER CUKES AND LET STAND 7 DAYS. ( use a large plate or something to keep cukes underwater. also a quart plastic container of water set on top of the plate). DRAIN OFF WATER AND BOIL 1 GAL. OF WATER AND POUR OVER CUKES AND LET STAND OVERNIGHT. DRAIN OFF WATER AND BOIL 1 GAL. OF WATER AND 1 HEAPING TABLESPOON FULL OF ALUM AND POUR OVER CUKES AND LET STAND OVERNIGHT. POUR OFF MIX AND BOIL 2 QUARTS OF VINEGAR, 4 QUARTS OF SUGAR, 6 STICKS CINNAMON, 3 TABLESPOONS CELERY SEED, 1 TEASPOON ALL SPICE, 2 TEASPOONS TURMERIC WITH ALL THE SMALL SPICES TIED IN A BAG. POUR OVER CUKES AND LET STAND 3 DAYS. ALWAYS KEEP THE PLATE ON TOP OF THE CUKES SO THEY WILL STAY UNDER WATER. PUT CUKES IN HOT QUART JARS ( i like the wide mouth jars for this as the cukes pack better) AND BOIL THE VINEGAR MIXTURE AND POUR IN JARS. THIS SHOULD MAKE 6 JARS AND I PUT A CINNAMON STICK IN EACH JAR SO I CAN TELL MY SWEET PICKLES FROM ALL OTHERS. WHEN YOU GET READY FOR SOME SWEET PICKLES, PLACE A JAR IN THE FRIDGE. FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEY WILL CRISP UP BETTER.

That's the kind of response I was hoping to see for a garlic dill recipe. Some well guarded family secret from someone's great grandmother passed down for generations that's won countless recipe contests. Something that can be shelved through to the next season.
