I was wondering. Who would be the baddest, if they weigh the same! Our black Bear populations is increasing and l was just wondering who was going to take over an area, When it comes to food! The hogs push around the deer.

I don't think it matters which would win in a fight or who is the baddest.

Hogs out reproduce bears 40:1 or more.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I'm know I'm a bad boy for saying it, but I wish we had both here.

How much do the bears weigh in your area?

Were I’m at. I don’t have any yet. They say or boars can get up to 400 pounds. To me that’s heavy for down here. On the pictures I see. Maybe around 200. I don’t know anything about bears. That’s why I’m asking. I know some hogs will get you if given the chance. I’m just comparing aggressiveness and which one would be dominant?

I don't know much about bears except that you wouldnt want to put one on the defensive. Hogs are the same way- if you corner one you better have a plan and dont stub your toe- they are lightning fast.

I’m going to say hogs even though they are very low in population is SK although growing in number.
Bears though, they’re everywhere, a weekly occurrence in my yard. We can kill two a yr if we want. Outside of them eating some fawns I don’t think they hurt the deer much in terms of food competition.

Hogs will win. They have taken over around here. I’ve killed literally hundreds of pigs and a few bears. Pigs populate faster and spread out in larger numbers. Basically, they eat the same diet too. Now, if we could get a few hog eating bears around here, I’d be ok with that.

Bears and hogs weigh about the same. (No experience with hogs just from what I read). Hogs are agressive but bears are more lethal when they need to be. Hogs seem to breed like rabbits. But....I'm sure a hungry bear woulsnt mind feasting on a mess of suckling pig.

Pound for pound the bears would definitely dominate-never underestimate a black bear.I have watched them rip a head off 400 plus dead pigs on bear baits years ago-and it looked pretty effortless.Almost scary.ya wild pigs would out populate them-but head to head weight wise i'd pick bears every time.JMO

Bears and hogs thrive down here in these swamps. Thier diets are so varied that they are not in 100% competition. I have seen many trail cam pics where bears caught pigs, some pigs 100 pounds or more, at deer feeders. Havent seen a pic yet of a hog catching a bear...

Baby pigs are fine eating as long as you have already slap tamed momma. Her sense of humor is no existent when it comes to those babies.

Jeff, we have both right here in Champaign County and in a lot of other Ohio counties too. Here's a boar my friend Don shot in Washington County, Ohio.

Don has bears on his land too.

If you are talking black bears then they are able climbers and thus young and smaller bears can climb for cover. Also if the bears were to hibernate in the winter (being that far south I don't know if they do) they are away from harm for some weeks or months. They both will eat about anything so there is great diversity in what they can and do eat. Bear maybe able to handle swamp conditions better. As to just plain brute power and force a big wild boar against a big black bear boar? A lot of times in the wild it is not who fights the most or best but which species has the more dominating attitude.
From a habitat perspective bears are not nearly as hard on the landscape as wild hogs are.

Great pic Keith. We don't have hunt-able numbers though. I've never seen a wild hog here and only 2 bears over a 20 year period. It would be nice to have another larger critter to hunt, but I know that hogs are too destructive and we really don't have good bear habitat.

And athletic. Watching a 200 lb boar jump a 48" panel in a trap is amazing. But, if you're talking confrontations, hogs can't climb! I'll edit to add a pic from my phone.

This is an absolute trap wrecker. I'm estimating about 300 lbs
