Some of these new kids are going to break me of looking up the lyrics. Koe Wetzel and Tyler Childers in particular but yes. I always figured it was my hearing loss.

If it is Rock from before it died, I always thought the words did not matter, because it was the sound of the singer that was more like and instrument. Like the guy who passed away not to long ago from ACDC. He sounded cats in a screen, but he propelled that band while he was lead singer. This new studio synthesized stuff is not music no matter the genre, as it all sounds the same from country to pop. None of these people have finger callouses or keyboard cramp from sitting for hours tapping out a riff. I don't even like bluegrass anymore as they all play it so fast that it sounds like they are all coked up. I have not come across a modern song which had any prose in it worth googling.

I agree with everything you have said and am happy to introduce you to "monsters and men"
I was 14 in 1970 and a lot of the music was about the war, but I didn't realize it until I saw the videos many years later. Lotta good music in that era.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.
