I'm good with horses but dogs and horses are obviously different I weight but also chemistry. There is at least one pain med developed for dogs that works great on horses but the 1200 pound horse takes less than a 50 pound dog.
I wish I nee the answer but definitely do internet research if someone gives you a tip.

This works. I dont remember dosage, but we've given our dogs benadryl for years when allergies get bad or when they need to slow down for company or if theyre nervous. Asked the wife...1 mg per lb of dog.

We used to use benadryl on our dog for long car trips. Sometimes it would totally knock him out within a half hour. Other times it would be about 2 hours later. Sometimes it barely affected him. It was a guessing game.
