What over the counter products can be used to safely and quickly sedate a dog, either making it fall asleep or at the least taking the "fight" out of it temporally ?

I'm good with horses but dogs and horses are obviously different I weight but also chemistry. There is at least one pain med developed for dogs that works great on horses but the 1200 pound horse takes less than a 50 pound dog.

I wish I nee the answer but definitely do internet research if someone gives you a tip.

Not quick, but a day running around the woods with some younger dogs is enough to make my 8 year old lab practically comatose.

We used to use benadryl on our dog for long car trips. Sometimes it would totally knock him out within a half hour. Other times it would be about 2 hours later. Sometimes it barely affected him. It was a guessing game.

My vet prescribed Trazodone for my dogs' nail trimming sessions. Works well.

I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

When washing a dog the best thing you can do is smear some peanut butter or cheese whiz wherever you want the dog to stay put.

Works about as good as a sedative imo.
