What in the world was that cat doing way up there?

Why would its RR leg be all mangled? From touching the ground wire (right beside it) burned the hair right off! Last winter I saw a coon hanging in a similar fashion.

Why would its RR leg be all mangled? Why would its RR leg be all mangled? Birds maybe? Its not grounding out so something could eat it Dont know crows usually dont start with a leg

Yeah now that I look closer, and one can conclude that it was using hind legs to climb the pole as well, it looks like a burn mark on the pole where it grounded out on that wire.

The reason for chunk gone of kitty’s leg is the voltage going to ground. Looks like 7200 volts judging by the insulator.

The reason for chunk gone of kitty’s leg is the voltage going to ground. Looks like 7200 volts judging by the insulator. Beat me to it. I would say 7200 v also. If you look, you can see a #6 soft drawn copper wire stapled to the pole, sticking out. Old time framing had that wire stapled all the way up, close to the insulator. Original thought was for lightning. Killed many birds and outages. That wire should of been removed, but just had some of the staples removed and bent down. That cat took 7200 volts direct to ground. Amazing how it managed to get it's mouth and paw connected at the same time. Electricity is fast stuff.

^ yeppers. Right leg is where the exit spot was where it had contact with ground wire. If not for that extended ground wire he might have never gotten killed. Yes, it is glass insulated for 7200.
