I was being slightly facetious.

We all have less rights and freedoms than we wish, I was simply pointing out that it seems to me the great amendment you guys south of the border hang your hats on is not as iron clad as you think. There is a much bigger legal argument here, but it has always seemed to me to be a privilege wrapped up in a box that has "right" written all over it.

We know ours is a privilege, same with driving, etc. Lots of restrictions on various aspects of owning a gun down there, and here of course. heck our wonderful liberals have deemed that a pellet gun of about any power is now a "firearm" and must be treated the same as a centerfire rifle.

Woodtick is right on. I think you guys should be worried about the Democrats taking away your rights. Why would we think that? Because if there is any infringement, which there is, there can be more and more until the word "right" is as watered down as that stuff you guys call beer.

(I don't even drink, but a dig is a dig grin)

Got some real beer being made here in KS. Have a law called the 2nd amendment protection act also. Seems like every day though we have more people concerned with getting the government to take of them rather than looking for ways to best take care of theirselves. KS is slowly getting more people living in cities than rural areas. A problem you Canadians have had for awhile. City people just dont think the same as rural people.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Cities are very damaging to our interests. Politicians appeal to the majority. We don't have much of a say. One thing we have going for us in my part of the world is that my area is where the affluent city people cottage and spend their summers. This lends its self to education well through nuisance work, etc., but its tough to reach enough of the millions to make a difference. To the average city person: Guns=bad. Traps=inhumane. Killing animals=cruel.

They may never vote on any of these issues, but stereotypically the politicians they support for other reasons will not be supportive of us.

people moving to cities is a very troubling trend.

I think the liberals and the Republicans use scare tactics on the second amendment to give the economy a boost . Everytime they talk about taking guns there is a surge in guns, ammo and gun permit sales, lol

The riots have been the main reason for the spike in gun sales right now.

Perhaps this forum has changed because America is now 87% urban, and 13% rural.

Except that the gun sales shot up back when the travel ban and the mask idea hit CNN.

I remember the lengthy and informative threads and posts WilyE used to place on the forum.

Speaking of WileyE, do y'all recall when he was debating with the anti-trapper, Abbey, on here? I agreed to let her on for a civil debate on trapping. Do y'all recall how that turned out?

It seems to mellow out when the season starts. I usually go straight to the trapping only forum.

In my ten years trapping, never ran into an anti, or someone who was severely against it.

I would be curious to know how that one turned out as well. Was the "no anti trappers" rule there before or as a result of that exchange?

The title of the OP thread is a hoot!
As if somehow a thread is a living, breathing, lovable object and the mean trappers are killing this living, breathing lovable object if they don't feed it straight food. No diverse food. That'll kill it. Or maim it for sure.

As one who has been a vendor at trapping conventions since 1984 (chime in here Newt or Bob Jameson), I can tell you, trappers are a unique bunch. Had 10,000's of 'em standing at my booth for 36 years and for sure, they are = opinionated, lovers of a tussle, don't mind a bit of crap weather, like to complain, enjoy victory, are absolutely tight, tight, tight with a dollar, because they earned it, are perhaps a bit more prejudice than most based on real life experience (while most watch about it on TV), and on and on.

Trappers are some of the coolest folks there are!!!!!!
They don't fight. They don't call each other names.
It just seems like it, if you're not from here.
Bring on the debate! Bring on the other point of view!
Bring on the trapper.

Some of you on TMan would have taken your football, and gone home pouting, from the 19th century mountain man rendezvous. You think they were love festivals? Ha!

Blessings!
Mark

I've run into anti's. One crazy lady a few years ago, screaming about a grinner. You, being a Canuck, I guess the 2 other people in your town all accept it? grin

No, the Abbey debate was a set-up, done with my full knowledge.
