Should you be able to clump wax sand in your hand. Also should I let it cool down before I test. Volcano.

Hi Newt. Already got it out on tarps. Just wondering if it should cool before I test it. It’s not clumping I just wondered if I should be able to make a clump in my hand?

No, not when its hot either in my experience. My waxed dirt feels and looks like the original dirt just a shade darker.

It should not clump when hot, too much wax. I store mine in 5 gallon buckets or 55 gallon drums after it is cool, I don't seal it tight and I have never had a problem with mold or clumping.

I test it by making a small volcano and dumping in water to see if it soaks in. Usually let it set 30 minutes and you are good, sometimes I have left it overnight and the water was still sitting in a beaded pool in the morning.

Good Luck

Not sure what you mean by clumping. When you take some and squeeze, it should stay together. If you're using a mixer, use 1lb of wax to 5 gallons of sand. If using the solar method, I have no idea.

I use 10 pounds of wax to 15 gallons of sand. I do the tarp method and once all the sand looks wet I put it in my cement mixer in the shade and let it spin until it is cool. when it is cool, if I can make a sand ball with my hands and it stays together like a snowball I know it is good.
