I'm needing to buy 2 more 1 man ladder stands, they need to be 18' tall or better. What brand and model do you all recommend? I'm not wanting to buy cheap junk stands that wobble. I just acquired 2 new bow hunting property's today, both are small acreage one's 30 acres & the other one is 20 acres. Most of the property's are fields but both have about 12'-15' of trees on the fence lines with good game trails.

I don’t know how cold it gets there during winter, but here once it starts getting cold my ladder stands creak and crack like crazy. I’m done buying ladder stands because of that.
I like using the steps that strap to the tree then hang a hang on treestand. The steps don’t make a sound when you climb them and very solid too!
Cold as ice!

I have about 30 ladderstands. Can't tell you what brand they are? I'd rather sacrifice a bit of comfort and get a plain- Jane older one that is welded than the new fangled ones with tip up seats and movable parts. Spent 250.00 on a big ladderstands last year and it's unhuntable when it cold ( LOUD)!!!
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Old people and hang on stands, stick ladders, strap on steps, or screw In steps DONT GO TOGETHER. I'll be 56 in November. All my cuz's and hunting buddies my age have long since stopped using hang ons. Wussies have also put down their bows and took up crossbows. Im still using both but it aint easy anymore.
I have owned/used about every stand made. Had 4 Millenium 100s. Still have 3 with stick ladders and straps but they are strenuous to hang. I do use a HSS harness when hanging....that helps...frees up the hands and prevents an unexpected swan dive.
About 3 years ago I traded 1 Millenium for a Summit Viper SD climber. Have since bought 2 more Summit climbers, 1 being a Goliath. If you have trees that are limbless up to a good height these lightweight climbers are hard to beat. Easy and quiet to put on a tree. Quiet to climb with, especially on a hardwood tree. Backpack straps are most comfy made. I could tote it miles.
I have several ladder stands on my property but all are on plots or well used travel corridors. They dont get moved, just chain/binder released at deer seasons end.

Rivers Edge Lockdown BowPro. I normally hunt from Lone Wolf hang ons, but these are really sweet, quiet. I have a couple places where the trees are squirrely, these have their own ladder. Check them out. Seat folds up nice and quiet when you want to stand and peek around the tree.

I really like my xstand ladder. Most secure stand I've owned. Best part is that it is secured to the tree before you take one step on it.

Ladder stands are abt the safest stands you can use Hang on stands are very dangerous, especially for us older guys I did use climbing stands for years, but now it’s ladder stands or sit on the ground Iv killed over 100 deer and the past few years say 10 years , I have been sitting on the ground without Any blind. Taken some decent bucks that way My two cents Agree with ladder being safer, and also agree that if you are still and hide yourself well you can get some nice deer from the ground, even with a bow. I have noticed that heavily pressure deer will look up in the trees and its easier to hide on the ground.

You lock them to the tree at the top before you ever go up and put more ratchet straps on. I have Rivers edge also and they are quiet but x-stand is all I buy now. And they weigh less.
