What do you all think? I though it was a cat the first time I saw her. Lol I got her back from the taxidermist last night super happy with the mount. I honestly want to know if anyone has seen this occurrence in the gray squirrel before?

Not many greys around here. I did see a red squirrel with a completely white body and a normal completely red tail. That one is pretty cool.

Great mount. We only have a few reds here so I’m no help. By few I mean a couple per square mile.

There are now a population of melanistic fox squirrels in Sioux Falls that are black. Don't know if someone went and got a breeding pair from Toronto or if the gene just showed up and is now being spread. I'd like to pop a nice looking one of those...

That's an odd one. Never seen one like that before. I have seen several and the number seems to be growing, used to be that black one were rare then they became an everyday sighting then white ones now those have become almost an everyday thing now it is piebald ones pretty soon I think seeing a gray one will be a rare thing at least around here anyways

nightlife- What part of Minnesota do you live? I wonder if you all are about the furthest west for the gray squirrel range. I think they are an eastern deciduous forest critter and maybe can't travel much between open ground areas such as a fox squirrels. We have plenty of those in our farm shelterbelts and cities and towns in the eastern half of South Dakota but I've never seen a gray squirrel here. The Black Hills have little red pine squirrels but that's about it for tree squirrels in this state. No flying squirrels or if they do they are rare, maybe up in the northeast corner with more natural woods...
