Went up to camp for 10 days with the kids. Came back to an awful smell. When I walked over to the freezer my 4yo daughter came over and flipped a switch in the back that I didn't know existed. It was to big to get through the door so I taped up the seal and let it freeze back up. I'm pretty devastated. I canned a lot of meat but probably not enough to last until this hunting season. All the sausage, burger, steaks and roasts where in there.

Anyway. I'm hoping I can use what's in there for bait piles. I've never pre baited but I'll need to get rid of this stuff before archery season. What's the soonest you start baiting and how do you put it out? Bury it? How often do you re bait?

A freezer of meat will get them started, but you will have to keep it up , probably once a week ,if you get them coming in regular . dont bury ,just pour it out . they will find it. keep adding . go to butcher shops ,gros stores ect and get old meats. Keep your pile in thickets , they will establish trails and it makes snaring great.

IF your talking about prebaiting dirt holes ,it just was to time consuming for me. i found that i could let a pile go dead for a week and bust the fire out of coyotes with just good smelling dirt holes in the vicinity of my pait piles. im talking up to half mile away.

I just want to make a few piles to get critters in the area. I'll probably start picking up road kill too.
