Should I make a relaxing lock and a stop to prevent the opening of the snare from closing to less than 2 1/2 inches in diameter, or a relaxing lock system with a breaking point of not greater than 350 pounds. This is required by Ohio law

As a person who makes a lot of snares my suggestion is to make both then decide which you like the best thankfully here in Montana we use lethal snares with dispatch springs in most places unless it's in lynx habitat. Allan

I would rather a Release furrule in Ohio than a S or J hook
Buy 2-3 doz off of a true snarman who is also in the busniess of building costom snares.
Hight quality cable and componets are a must.
Building a snare is not like string beeds
The high volume snare manfactures do just that. They string beeds.
When figgering your time and expences the trap or snare is the cheepest thing on a trap/snare line
Cost difference between Quality and a cheeply made snares is pennys.

I run release ferrules here but some game wardens that have seen them didn't understand what they were when I told them.

Newt is right. Do yourself a favor and buy your snares premade from a good manufacturer, that will provide you with legal fast loaded good quality snares. Save the reusable components and after a few seasons you can attempt to build your own. Break-aways > 2.5" deer stops

And I believe if you follow this link you’ll find just that. http://www.snareone.com/
