Seattle Police Chief Changes Her Tune When Mob Comes to Her Home

Isn’t it interesting just how quickly progressive, mob-allowing community leaders can turn into law and order loving citizens once it’s their necks or homes on the line?

I mean, one minute they are going on and on about the need for police reform and a complete justice system overhaul. And then all in the matter of mere seconds, they change sides, realizing that they are just as much at risk of losing it all to the mob as anyone else.

Once liberal and pro-police reform Police Chief of Seattle Carmen Best is one such individual.

For months, while her city has literally rioted and burned itself to the ground, she has quietly worked right alongside Democratic Mayor Jenny Durkan, continuing the push for a complete reexamination of the police and how they interact with the community. The pair have continually insisted that the “protesters” are “mostly peaceful,” and therefore, should be allowed to continue.

But when the mobs showed up at Chief Best’s home on Sunday night, she suddenly had reason to change her mind.

According to Q13 Fox, a group of more than 200 “protesters” showed up the quiet neighborhood of Snohomish County, where the Chief Best resides with her family. The neighbors reported that a line of 30 to 40 car made their way to the quiet street and wrapped themselves around the block, essentially blocking all incoming and outgoing traffic.

However, even as liberal and pro-protest as Best is, her neighbors decided they could not let anything happen to her home, especially considering she was not there at the time to defend it. And so they took their own cars and blocked off the path to the police chiefs home.

One neighbor and her husband described the scene for Q13 Fox, saying, “It was not peaceful. They were here to intimidate. Scare people. Scare children. There were children out there and they were asking them what schools they went to. They were yelling the most horrible things you’ve ever heard in your entire life.” Her husband continued, “It just takes one Molotov cocktail, takes one person trying to light something on fire, one firework going off. Then we now have a neighborhood in crisis.”

As I mentioned, Best was not home at the time, but news of the mob who attempted to intimidate her rattled her nonetheless. She even wrote a letter to the City Council, asking that they “loudly, boldly, and assertively denounce this kind of behavior.”

You know, the kind of behavior that has been going on the whole time but never really mattered to Best until now. But I digress…

In her letter, she noted that “These direct actions against elected officials, and especially civil servants like myself, are out of line with and go against every democratic principle that guides our nation. Before this devolves into the new way of doing business by mob rule here in Seattle, and across the nation, elected officials like you must forcefully call for the end of these tactics…”

Well, I’d say it’s a little late for that. These “tactics” have already become the norm for mobs all over the country. And so far, because of mayors like Durkin and police chiefs like Best, who would rather ignore the violence and hate filling their streets, the tactics have worked.

The mob is getting what it wants. Police chiefs, mayors, and even governors are bowing down to their demands and giving in to their every whim, all in the name of so-called peaceful protests.

But as this situation proves, it’s only a matter of time before these liberal-minded leaders get a taste of their own medicine. And just like Best, they will realize that we have to stand up and fight against the “violence and intimidation,” as Best is now calling it, that is taking over our streets, no matter what “cause” they claim to be doing it for.

This is the same woman who wrote letters to business owners and residents in Seattle’s downtown area that basically said they were on their own against the mobs, because well, she and the mayor didn’t have a problem with them. But now, now that those same violent mobs are at her door, Best is singing an altogether different tune.

Odd, isn’t it?

Just another perfectly good example of the hypocrisy of the progressive left…

That is one of the main problems with these idiots.... according to them... there IS NO PAST. If they admit to the past they would see where their party is guilty of so many crimes and atrocities... they would all have to hang themselves.

Hanging themselves might be a little harsh Gary, by I get your drift.
For a lot of these people, they have some intelligence but their PRIDE is what controls them!
Many of these individuals know full well how their democratic party is continually failing them but they are to stubborn to just walk away.
I suspect our comrade "James" fits this to a "T".
It's not that tough James, Just "Walk Away"!

I think its because they don't take into account the corruption, pridefulness, greedness, selfishness, laziness and controlling nature of mankind. Socialism looks great on paper when you dont take these things into account. they cant see reality all around them.

you could always see her reluctance with allowing the burning of her old precinct.

You could tell she thought that was too far. and said it was not her decision but her orders were to let them have it.

the rest I didn't pay much attention to.

isn't it always the case it gets real when it gets to your own door step.

You do realize she’s been vocally against most of what the "protests" have been about, right? You also realize they "marched" over home because she is loudly against defunding the police by 50% or more? You do know that she completely denounced and laid the Chop/Chaz nightmare at the feet of the one it belonged too, the mayor, right? You understand the letters to citizens were to explain that the mayor would not give authority for the police to do their jobs and she was warning the citizenry and businesses, again not her choice, right? Do you know one single leader that thinks police don’t need to re-evaluate and possibly re-group?

I’m all for calling a spade a spade but it needs to be factual also. I’m not saying she isn’t Liberal all day long. But. This is at best a poor representation of the facts.

I have to agree -- that was the impression I got. However if you aren't willing to take a stand and quit or do something about it- you are part of the problem and deserve the same treatment as your owners.

So every rank and file officer following orders to stand down, they haven’t quit should be treated the same as their "owners"?

She is trying to do something by putting the responsibility at the feet of the problem that is allowing this meyhem to continue. She brings the spotlight to where it needs to be. Her owner the mayor is not a fan of her actions in this regard. She is meeting with citizens and business, encouraging them to voice their opinions. Boy are they voicing too. Some of the calls to city hall have been impressively to the point. This stuff is easily found if you look and want the whole story but will not be advertised on the big local liberal outlets.

The Mayor of Portland finally said that the people trying to burn the federal building with people inside were attempting murder. After 60 some days of letting them do whatever, he finally speaks up and says this is bad. I wonder if anyone has informed him that the he's the one who was supposed to do something about it, instead of encouraging it until it got that bad.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I also know that no matter what she says... it is her actions that count,. SHE TOOK AN OATH... to the people and their welfare and to the Constitution not to the Mayor. That is where the politics come in.

Every officer below her level also took the same oath.

Quit scapegoating the easy targets and go to the root of the problem. How many here would quit their job if they didn’t like something their boss directed them to do? What has she been instructed to do and carried out that is illegal? Not immoral or unethical, but, illegal?

Sorry but people should have expected this. She has no business being a cop to start with. Nothing but a affirmative action hire, that somehow got to the top. She took an oath then promptly forgot it. Sorry but they are supposed to enforce the law, not selectively enforce it. So when the law is being broken, why does she need to listen to the Mayor? She dosn't. But she wants the prestige and the money.

While I don't necessarily believe in the " affirmative action hire" and i do believe she has some morals and values -- the rest is spot on. Politics should have nothing to do with policing. Enforce the laws as written and encourage the dumb ---- making the laws to make the laws work that is their job, which they are not doing.
