If their jobs are offered back to them and they refuse re- employment, they will lose their unemployment benefits. Tom True, but the unemployed are not taking the multitude of other jobs that are available. A huge number of companies are hiring due to Covid-19, including cleaning services, grocery stores, hardware stores, companies that ship packages and security companies and they can't find the people they desperately need because people are being paid more to stay home, than the businesses can afford to pay. A 1200 dollar check will feed a rioter for how long ?? When you add in $800+ a week unemployment payment it will feed them for quite a while.

Good. It's welfare. So are unemployment checks. Unemployment isn't welfare. It's insurance that we all pay for. Unlike welfare, unenjoyment only lasts so long. It's for people that had jobs, not bums that didn't The "insurance" is funded by payroll taxes paid by employers. I expect it will have to be supplemented with additional funds because of the large number of claims. So, more taxes paid by me (I kept working and haven't laid off any employees) and others who kept working or found another job. Welfare.

It's for people that had jobs, not bums that didn't Actually employers pay the UI , not employees Pennsylvania (my state) is one of three states where both employers and employees pay Unemployment Insurance taxes. Like most self-employed business owners, I get to pay into the system but am not eligible to collect from it. From my prospective that makes it welfare. For employees paying in to the system I would say they earned the right to collect. My opinion only applies to standard UI rates. The additional $600.00 is straight up welfare.

I wonder if a person can claim safety issues from the virus for not coming back to work and keeping the benefits. Yes they can, they can claim they or someone they live with feels sick and keep collecting.

I wonder if a person can claim safety issues from the virus for not coming back to work and keeping the benefits. Happened here at the Quarry i retired from 1/3 of the workforce either stayed or went on layoff this April citing safety reasons This is the most crucial and labor intensive part of the shipping season But i imagine the company filed for lost revenue Sorry 330 no pics

Good riddance to something else we'd have to pay for later It will happen, sooner or later. It's an election year, the two parties couldn't agree on how much,as usual the democrats went way overboard with their demands.Whether it's an executive order or they come back and iron it out, whether we like it or not another stimulus is coming.

It's the first time in human history that a pandemic and its subsequent economic crisis has been fueled by a political party and its fatal agenda. They will continue to do everything in their power to extend the misery into November. They never had any intention of passing a 2nd stimulus.

But you are correct, they need to promote crisis to seem important.

Welcome back Coonman. I'm sure there will eventually be something passed, but all the give-aways are why our country is in the shape it's in. I read that Pelosi's demand for mail-in voting was one reason for the hold-up.

It sounds iffy of get a stimlous. Check, a chance it , but if trump does something soon to extend ui or prevent evictions. The u tube vid I watch say. That no more $1200 stimlous, also say that likely the Dems an republics are done talk about deal for good. A $1200 stimlous would help everyone, buy a expensive exhaust manifold an ask questions. About it an other stuff on vechile a spend problem, it a expensive nesscaity, I don't see how ppl can afford live. If not for 1st stimlous. An ui for while, I be totaly broke an doubt be posting anything now. Probly no phone. As much as things cost nowadays. An how lil cheap wages are for kind work do with amount taxes took out check
