I have inspected 3 federal agents homes in 3 days and border patrol must pay fairly well- they were all nice places.
Many people who invite me into their home on business (inspect interior damages) end up considering me a friend and speak freely. These border patrol agents are fiercely patriotic, believe in the rule of law, are overt 2nd amendment proponents, and believe in helping fellow human beings in need to matter their immigration status. They find people wandering in the wilderness who haven't had anything to eat or drink in days.
One of the wives told the funniest story about her husband "Rob" who had never heard a tornado siren before. They were moving their oldest son to college up in Iowa and staying at one of those nice river casino resort / hotel places and the tornado siren went off. She said her husband grabbed two Glocks, extra mags, and a Scorpion 9mm carbine adapted to take the same mags.
She said "honey its a tornado siren" and Roberto said "but what if its an active shooter down in the lobby- I better go check" .
We all laughed and agreed if a tornado took him and he was firing lead at it wearing a bullet proof vest it would be a manly man way to go out. Texas would have been proud LOL.
When you pray remember these men and women- they are on the front lines of a very scary and completely under reported front line and they put themselves in harms way every single shift just like soldiers or LEOs do.

Yep, I hand it to those guys patrolling our borders.

Thanks for posting that. Those guys do have a tough thankless job. Like most law enforcement the media has made their job 10 times harder than it should be.

I was in a active shooter training scenario we weren't to the full scale with actors yet but we had the everyone in the school cafeteria to coordinate the plan were on a tach channel playing out all the response and ordination over the radio we had everyone Sherriff PD from every surrounding town,SWAT ,TRI county ERT , FBI , State police Fire , EMT Paramedics , dispatch , even the school buss company .
got to talk with many of them , very much the same character you are talking about.
even the FBI guy was cool.
well said.

The last guy was so cool I asked him what would happen if he was ever task with gun confiscation.
He laughed and said "in Texas? Ha!" And then added that he is very good at his job but that if that became his job he might not be very good at it.
After knowing him a little, I actually felt a bit safer. For every bad cop there are probably hundreds if not thousands of good ones. Same with federales
