Made a killing selling pigs this year, thanks to coronafluenza 34, hence the name.
The kids are here to help me get into the 20th century with pictures.
Building a 22’ pacific city dory, from Koffler boats. Went metal because the old glass version got a really beat up in tidewater beaching to set traps. This will open up a lot more tidewater opportunities. Google or you tube pacific city dory and you’ll see how we access the ocean. It’s pretty fun but it can also get real interesting at times.
This last one is from the boy cause it’s fun.
Hopefully this works correctly. If everyone likes these threads I’ll keep it updated.

That's lots of boat for just setting steel. Good things its paid for because I doubt even if you loaded it to the gunnels with with fur you make enough to pay for the paint. LOL
I'm going to have to do that google search. It's always interesting to me to try to figure the why of hull designs I'm not familiar with.

Not strictly for steel. It’ll haul a pile of beaver and swamp rats though. I can land in the flats at low tide with the flat bottom, several hours to scout, set and check. I fish a lot, but I trap more. Kinda looking forward to the pictures hauling fur.
Three seasons back we set the new record, 72 miles for tuna. Launched at 03:30, landed at 23:18. That’s a darned small island that far out. Usually hunt in a pack of 3-5 boats. This is almost identical to my chopped fiberglass over wood ‘68 boat that it’s replacing. Just a little different layout.
Sounds like there’s interest, so I’ll keep this updated. Even took notes on the picture thing with the kids.

No wonder your a beaver killer. You’re in middle of some of the best country in the state. Between Mohawk and Walterville area is where I got started. I miss that country sometimes. Kofflers are a good crew.

I have a Koffler McKenzie Driftboat that was manufactured in the 1970's that I bought from Buzz Ramsey; the P.R. representative for Luhr Jensen back in 1983.
I've used it for Steelhead & Salmon fishing on the Eastern Basin of Lake Ontario tributaries for many years.
Koffler's are heavy duty, well built boats for sure.
Built like a tank !!!!

How did you form these strakes, or ribs, or whatever they're called?
Ordered that way to help keep the tall sides structural and rigid with no ribs. I don’t know how the mill did that.

6’ at the chine, 8’ at the gunnel. Not my shop, my man card is completely safe. This makes mine look like a scene from an earthquake movie, only thing I can get to is the chain grinder right now.

It’ll be doable but probably rare to set over the side. Mostly just slide up, land then get out and trap with the tide out. The sides are nice in the surf and big swell and wind chop days.
Should be more pictures in the next couple days.
