Man oh man Wisconsin is on it when it comes to Trappers Ed. I sent them an email as a non resident and had a very informative reply within 5 minutes. I am excited to start the course and once finished just like when I took the New Mexico course join the WTA. Thanks

We have had online for over two years now and it will continue after January 1st of next year. We have been offering correspondence classes since 1992. We are approved to offer live classes again with limitations and restrictions. Go to the WI DNR website and select safety classes and choose Trapper Ed for a listing of live classes. On that page you can also call or e-mail for online or correspondence.

We had developed a field test out for the online and correspondence courses but we will not for the 2019 year as that aspect of the class is being revamped and finding different sites and locations. The plan is to have a field test out option ready to go for 2021 for the online and correspondence classes. We have no plans to remove the current class options and the preferred option is the live classes but this year that option is more complicated.
We have certified 50-60 WI AG instructors and over the last 5 years they have graduated several hundred students that have become trained and certified.

Correct, 2020 is the year with no field test out not 2019 as I incorrectly stated in my previous post.

So the online course currently doesn't require an in-person test out? I'll admit to being uninformed, but to no fault of the WCTEP. I normally do a Learn to Trap the first weekend in August but our group of instructors decided to cancel this year, then come to find out all Learn to ... events are canceled or wouldnt be recognized.
