Trying not to hijack the other thread, but I’m looking for a budget coyote and fox trap. I was going to order a dozen duke sj but I couldn’t help but notice that the wolf creeks are only $84 a dozen. Are they complete junk? I’m already worried about getting the dukes. I’d rather not do any major mods to them.

I have some, got at the end of the season. They're built pretty heavy. I say get some, if you hate them, I'll buy em!

I’ve used them the last few years. No issues. Critters are usually buried with their toes still on pan. They come with a bolt under the pan that I cut off. They all seem to be 3-4# pan tension but I’ve had a few that needed a little filework to increase pan tension. I have 2s and 3s. RedMt gave me a crash course on setting pan level and tension. Once you have “dog” filed for tension/travel and frame arm bent up/down for pan level, you don’t have to mess with them again like a dogged trap. Like I said, I only had to file a couple traps.

Anybody ever had a jaw pop out? I don’t have a welder to bubble tip the jaws

I haven't, idk if you could bend the jaw ends or not...maybe a possibility, if you're worried about it.

You can go wrong with duke #2. 2 or 4 coil . I bought a dz at the last nta 85.00. I caught several coyotes in the this pass season.

I had one with that the jaw popped out of the hole & the yote was gone.
But other than that 1 time I've had no issues.
I tried bending the tip but there wasn't enough for me to grab onto without maybe bending the entire side.

Ya can't miss fur if yur traps are out somewhere.
Or so I've been told.

I have both Reg and OS #2s. I bent the jaw tips up on all my #2 traps. The 3s I bubbled the jaws as they are a little short. Never had a popped jaw.

Thank you, I got offsets, but think I'll get regs if (when) I order more. We'll see how this season goes.

I run Wolf creek number 2's and sell them. I had zero issues with them last year and i did not bubble tip the jaws. I did turn them up a bit with vise grips though. It is kinda hard as the tips are shorter like others have said. I now have a welder and will bubble tip them this year.

Advantages of Wolf Creek #2's specifically. You can easily get four coil kits for them if you need them. Just buy for Northwoods #2 and they will work perfect. You can also do this with lamination kits. If you want an expanda pan or mike kellys style pan they are similar enough to bridgers and the northwoods they work perfect. They are cheap dollars wise to about anyone i believe. I just sold three dozen dogless retail for less than the price of two dozen bridger #2 dogless. Dogless traps are montgomery style dogless sytem and is as simple as you can get. And yes you can get pan tension with it you just need to know how to tune them. After a few trys you will get it fine.

Disadvantage-If you want a trap to sit perfectly level they can be tricky to tune dog on or dogless. They are not center swiveled. Again this is easy to get a kit for if you buy them as they are northwoods design traps but they dont come with them.

If you ever have any issues with Wolf Creeks you can ask "OHIO" on here. He is the owner of Wolf Creek and is an awesome dude to deal with.

Andy Weiser uses them & he liked them! Order them and have "Strained Chains Trap Modifications" modify them for you. He works cheap & supplies the materials. He does a lot of Wolf Creeks.

I don’t think I’d want anything endorsed by Weiser. For what it’s worth I ran the Wolf Creek #2 for a couple seasons. They weren’t my cup of tea but for what I paid they were built plenty strong and I didn’t have many issues with them. I ran the dogless and as it has been pointed out any catches were caught deep. They held up as advertised. I had no complaints other than my own personal preference.
