Anyone reconsidering the plans for the upcoming season with all this economic uncertainty?

I'm a coon trapper but it seems that only the very largest and best will have any value. Making me thinking of just trapping around home. No sense in burning fuel just to release valueless fur.

But....knowing my luck....prices will take off if I don't trap much.

I will only be trapping places I intend to spend a few days or near home. Plan to get some hides tanned, etc. Will concentrate on a water line, coyotes and also spend some time on bobcat and fisher as I received my tags.

We have so much work piled up I do not think I will really trap, maybe have time to get a few rats or beavers but really just hoping work keeps up, I have never had so much work.

I plan on trapping the same as I always do. I too am mostly a coon trapper, and plan on doing my my best to catch as many as I can. The only difference this year is that I plan to home tan a bunch more, and may try to sell them,or make something out of them. I always wait until late in the season to sell, and if prices go up,I can always well them dried, and if not, I can just tan them.

I have a number of brain tanned pelts that I planned on keeping for crafts....but I'm not much of a crafter and hate the idea of trying to sell things directly to people.

Coon prices are not going to "take off" sorry but that's the simple truth. I plan on trapping around home and tanning for my enjoyment

I will have to see what I have for time.

this might be a year to gain ground , people are over-run with coons from all that I heard and saw helping some friends this spring. gain hunting ground by trapping worthless coons.

I have 2 major ADC jobs where I deal with rats and chucks. That will take me about 2 weeks to finish.
I won't intentionally trap any coon. But I plan on doing a little dirt trapping for coyotes before I can start hanging CRs.

Going to spend more time In my deer stands.

I'd be looking more at trapping for food than fur right now and doing depredation work.

I plan to trap like I normally do, if the fur happens to be worth a little money that’s just a bonus

I plan on doing a bit of long lining for coyotes this year. Would be nice if there worth something but it's not a deal breaker. First year is mostly about learning the area and getting to know the locals anyway. And with prices being as they are I figure there's less competition.

Our season doesn’t start til November 15th, I don’t normally start til about Thanksgiving, so I figure I’ll wait til at least November 4th to make a decision. I don’t expect either party to accept the results if the other side is declared winner. Trump wins and we’ll have more rioting, looting, and anarchy. Biden wins and we’ll have more rioting, looting, and anarchy. Things ought to be peaceful on the line though.

I trap for fun. I skin 'em for the money!

Probably a few coyotes, maybe set a couple of coon sets for fun, then hammer on the beaver in the ditches so my farm ground drains better, pretty easy unless something changes and either prices go up or I’m so poor I have to trap for food then its all out war on coons.

This will be my 1st full season, I'm going to use this year to really find out what works for me, and my little line.

Good year to try new stuff out and gain some new permissions. As to economics, so it is worse than the last 3-4 years, it isn't like those were money makers and one can practice a lot of social distancing and not have to be wearing a mask!
