I’m getting ready to set up my first fur shed, does anybody have any tips or tricks that would help?

LED shop lights, the more the better. Skinning machine of some sort. If built on a wood floor some sort of linoleum to make clean up of blood and fat easier. If on concrete epoxy garage floor paint. Ceiling fan for air circulation . Wall mounting fleshing beam. A dehumidifier if you live in a humid area. What size fur shed are you building ?

Skun & Flesh close to the door. Keep your work stations close to one another, to save steps, a time saver. Build table or shelf so skun'n/flesh'n tools are within reach (no steps).
You don't need alot of room to do up fur. You will need some room to dry fur.

My current Fur shed has a big sink in it. the previos owner used the room as a tack room and dogwashing area. I would have never thought a sink with warm water would be used so much but i love this thing. I can keep everything so much cleaner all the way around. [Linked Image]

Here's a cheap and easy skinning system . Use can use the hand crank or a drill like I do. I have a floor mounted base to clamp the fur in, but even with out the base it's handy to raise and lower the critter being skinned.

Good luck, it's fun to plan it out. There was a thread about fur shed trips and tricks if you search the archives, a lot of valuable information.

Depending on what kind of space you have access to will change and mold these ideas into what you are needing. As for me i have an old 2 stall garage built in the 1910s on a concrete slab that was not taken care of that well but still holding together! because of this there is a lot of air leakage, no insulation, cracked concreted with some up heaves in it (there is electricity at least!). Due to us leaving this home in the next year or two i do not want to make anything too permanent or spend too much as i will need it at the next location to make my "dream shed" so to speak. Living where I do means heating this area is of great importance as it will get very cold everything will freeze up quite quickly. I have so far got a hanging system set up for drying stretchers / hanging wet animals to dry but made it where i can unscrew it and it'll come right off so i can bring it to the next location. My father and my fiancees father are carpenters so i grab what leftover insulation they have and am slowly filling the walls and rafters. i also added 6 Mil plastic to the walls and ceiling to help with air leakage problem though i did leave a few holes for venting. i Will be using a propane heater but it will be used correctly so i will not get poisoned by it, also i have a carbon monoxide detector just in case. Lastly (for now) i will be placing a vinyl flooring (free from carpenters so most likely a few different ones) on the floor to help keep stains off the concrete, make it easier for cleanup, and to help keep it a little nicer as you wont be standing on cold concrete.

I agree with good lighting. Paint every wall and ceiling white. The new LED lights are nice and bright. You need stretcher storage, a fleshing area and a place to sit down and board your pelts and hang them out of the way. Oh a good radio. I also keep big pieces of cardboard to lay on the floor under the critters so I dont get big puddles of blood. Easy to pick up and dispose of.

How about, woodstove and refrigerator for some beverages, maybe a coffee pot.

Sounds good but definitely a coffee pot and a radio too!

Gotta have a fan maybe not a ceiling fan but some kind of fan and some shelving for supplies. And the radio definitely.
