First let me state I am in favor of absentee voting where voter ID is required to get a ballot and opposed to just mailing ballots to people that are not verified as qualified.

I don't get the argument that the Postal Service needs billions of dollars to handle the influx of ballots. I see a request for ballot (if not done over the internet as I did), return ballot to voter and actual vote. That is 3 pieces of mail per voter maximum spread out over a couple of weeks. At our house we average getting about 6 pieces of mail plus packages every day so how are 2 additional envelopes, one for me and one for my wife, going to create the enormously expensive strain on the postal service? I think this whole issue is a red herring to seed doubt about the legitimacy of the process no matter who wins. Interested in other's thoughts.

Voting should be done in person on the day of the election at the polls. If an individual has a scheduling conflict on that day there is ample time for in person absentee ballot voting at the city hall in the weeks prior to election day.

Anything else is an opportunity for fraud and delegitimize the election.

I am all for absentee voting as it stands today. Not grab a ballot and turn it in. Here in Ohio you have to be registered to vote. Then you request a ballot. Then when you receive your ballot. You fill it out and mail it back in. The problem here. Fast growth in the voter districts. The polling stations have not kept up with the growth. For Busch jr. my wife and I stood in line for 6 hrs. Never again. We absentee vote all the time

What about folks with physical handicaps that make getting to the polls or the courthouse very difficult, if not impossible?

Severe physical handicaps where an individual is immobilized would require some special attention. Not aimed at the expense of the handicapped individual but aimed at the better good of the election.

It’s not an easy question to answer adequately without considerable research.

The immobile handicapped individual would need to appoint a representative and provide some form of medical evidence endorsed by a doctor of such handicap. Anything less stringent opens the door for fraud.

It was leaked today by low level Postal workers that the Post Office leadership deactivated most of the fast mail sorters across the country recently. They are claiming it was to make space for more boxes, but it's been proven that the machines took up very little usable space.

Exactly, WissMiss! My wife is not able to stand in the lines for extended periods of time. She deserves to be able to vote, albeit absentee, without having to prove again...and again... and again to some numbskull that she is in fact, disabled. She is proud to be able to vote in every election and maintain her dignity through the absentee ballots.

If you can't do a sub 9 minute mile you shouldn't be voting. laugh

If I was a mailman, and you had Biden signs in your yard. Your ballots would be in the ditch.

I look at it this way...if you had a $50 million dollar lottery ticket, would you mail it in or take it in person?

I look at voting the same way.

Absentee balloting is a very simple process for folks who are not available to vote, or physically unable to get to the polls, on election day. But you still have to put forth some minimal effort to request an absentee ballot. I guess asking people to put forth any effort these days is considered unreasonable?

The postal union just announced its support for Biden. No surprise and no conflict of interest.

Mail in ballots are good for one thing...controversy, if I have 4 registered voters in my residence, then I can vote MY feelings on ALL of them, if I so choose! MOST will be legit, but what about the SOME that aren't?

That has been repeated time and again in radio news clips around here. Form both sides from several letter carriers that think withholding/destruction of ballots based on how they think you’ll vote will help their cause.

Mail in ballot problems. Look back to Washington in 04, the governors race, in the Rossi vs. Gergoire election. Count and recount till you get the results that you want then slam the results shut. My state has been mail in for a long time, every election I get five ballots, here at home, my folks who I haven’t resided with for almost 30 years, one for each of my kids who’ve been out of the house for 5 and 8 years and an ex wife gone for more than 10 years. Every year I send these into the secretary of states office with and apologizing acknowledgement and a promise that it won’t happen again.

Maybe I should take up there offer of voting more than my allotted one voice is supposedly allowed.

It’s scary how bad this can be on a fast track system like this when years of experience can’t get it right. Unless you like the idea of President Pelosi, which makes my spine liver quiver like crazy.

There's no need for it, other than to rig an election.
We have absent-tee voting.
