Any pepper growers here care to venture a guess as to what I've got here? Got the plants from a guy on Facebook who couldn't identify them, but he did say they would be hot. Let's just say he was right. From what I saw online, I'm thinkong maybe some sort of Trinidad scorpion or ghost pepper, or maybe a hybrid of sorts. I can snap a pic of the plant tomorrow if that helps. Just trying to get an idea. It was hot. I put a small piece in my mouth and bit down then instantly regretted it.

Looks like the Scorpion with the point on the bottom the green is because its not ripe a neighbor quit growing them because they weren’t hot enough he went to the Carolina reapers and has been trying to get some California reapers but the cant stabilize the hybrid. He said there’s another one hotter yet in research but he’s not sure where its at in production.

Ghost pepper. That one isn't ripe yet. When ripe they turn a deep orange towards red in color.

Ghost peppers will add great flavor to salsa or other dishes, but can quickly turn up the heat if not used sparingly.

I've been growing them 8 or 9 years now, interesting peppers.

It sure looks like a habanero that hasn't completely ripened. They usually turn orange when ripe and are very shiny. There is a "green" strain but you don't see them often.

Some of the so called "chili" peppers are shaped like that also. The Habaneros are extremely hot.

At this point I'm happy to let them stay on the plant and see what they turn into. I've got another variety that are shorter and darker green, with more of a "cap" look to them. I'm not much of a spicy food kinda guy, but these were a good deal and I had extra space in the garden.

I found a couple last year that are just right.

A Cajun Bell, and one called a Marriachi pepper.

But, I'm from Nebraska, and I think creamed corn is an exotic food.

My little sister and her family are growing Ghost Peppers and Carolina Reaper Peppers this year. She's dehydrating the first of her Ghost Peppers right now, in her garage, because she was told it was dangerous to do it in the house.

I like the taste of fairly mild peppers and like hot sauces, like Frank's. I have no desire to eat anything hotter than an occasional Jalapeño. I feel it to much on my next constitutional.

Looks like a ghost type hybrid with the "stinger" on the bottom. Definitely not ripe yet as said above.

Just happy to be here.

Definitely some sort of super hot. I grow butch TS, ghost peppers (bhut jolokias), and Carolina reapers, and they all look pretty similar. The bhut jolokias tend to be more elongated with less of a tail...

As compared to the scorpion type peppers that have a definite stinger.

They're dangerous hot, they'll ruin the rest of your day if you're not careful. They're the only peppers I've had that create actual intense pain and not just a super strong burn. They're nuts, be careful. I don't even really know what to do with them, they're way too hot to even put in things, let alone eat by themselves. They're basically just a novelty.

I'm with Steve D in that I think it is an unripe habanero. They should turn orange eventually. That one is more pointed than some but plenty that I've grown have that pointed end.

A hack that I found that helps take some heat out of the Hot/super hot peppers..be sure to wear latex or some kind of rubber gloves when handling, cut pepper in half..halfway between top & bottom.
Remove seeds & ribs, turn cut side down on cookie sheet & place under broiler until the skin blisters. Slide the skin off & go on with your recipe or eat them like that. For my habaneros that took about 1/2 the heat away. And I could actually taste that nice smokey flavor. For me..the Ghost, Scorpion, & Reaper are just 'insane' heat with no flavor.

I once barely scratched a tiny piece of one of those little ornamental "christmas" catcus' they used to sell and touched it to my lips... Holy mother of God!
They could make a chemical weapon out of those things....

Ya'll are welcome to my share....LOL

Here is a Ghost pepper pic from one of my plants I took today. While there are slight differences between TL's pepper and mine. I still vote the mystery pepper is a Ghost.

A word of caution, use rubber gloves anytime you even mess the plant or pick peppers. A smear of Ghost pepper residue in the eye is not a good time.

For a real sense of the strength of those peppers, bite one in half. Give it 15 or so chews, then spit the whole thing out. You won't get sick but you will notice how intense the heat can be. A little bit like hitting your thumb real square with a hammer, except no blood ! Enjoy

Here's a photo of the plant if that helps with the ID. Plus a couple pictures of the other variety growing with these.

And these are the other ones. One is turning from dark green to a reddish, shorter and with more of a cap.
