I got a guy that wants me to try snaring hogs on his place. I have snared beaver, coyotes, coons , and foxes, but never tried hogs. I have already checked laws and all that , just wondered if anyone has advice. Loop size, height, etc. What works for you ?

I snagged one in a bar one time.

Anchor high up on something limber and strong. I have had them hit coyote snares with 30" rebar anchor and it didn't hold.

We don't have them up here, but I'd be interested in how its done myself.

I have snared a few in coyote snares. And they work good but remember a big boar can break a snare on the last lunge when you walk up on him and put you in a situation real quick, So shoot them from a distance, You want have to learn that lesson but once.

Will 1/8'' cable hold'em or do you need bigger.

From what I have read and heard, 1/8 cable is what most people use.

The later it is, the lower the loop. Very important.

You bout have to use 1/8 and plan that sooner or later one like this or bigger will pass thru

You get caught releasing a hog around here and you’re liable to never be seen or heard from again. And I dang sure ain’t gonna take the time and energy to load one that size up in the back of the truck. Buzzards got to eat too.
