I'm looking at 2 different bolts. Ruger(16.5" barrel) has a 1/16" twist. The Mossberg(20" barrel) has a 1/24" twist. Both have adjustable triggers.
What is the best ammo for the twist with say 300 grain bullets? Or a 250 grain bullet?
If I bought either, it would be for Black bear or Elk here in Michigan. The Mossberg is about $120 cheaper than the Ruger.
Any input on accuracy as per/twist per inch.

On those weight bullets you want to shoot it makes not never minds what twist rate you have. It gets more interesting when you get into the heavy stuff or 350 all copper as they are quite a bit longer. A friend has the ruger and likes it a lot . I never had the Mossberg in my hands so can't comment on that one. My 458 SOCOM has a 1:16 and shoots 300 grainers pretty good. 2 MOA ...good enough for the girls I go out with ...... 4198 and H110 are the go to powders for either.

can't help on the round or twist rate
I have a couple Mossbergs in 308 and really like them. I think the only difference is barrel and magazine.
I like the mossbergs the Predator has a nice big bolt handle the gun feels good to me but everyone has a personal preference
I don't think the extra barrel length makes a lot of velocity difference , I would see what feels right to you , what comes to the shoulder well.
I assume your in the MI strait wall cartridge area?

I live and hunt in Zone 2. about 10 miles above the straight wall area. We have had all kinds of rule changes each year.
I think it would probably be cheaper to keep a Lawyer on a retainer than to interrupt the changes every year.
I will go up to Jay's in Clare and look at both versions. Nothing better than to actually handle it first before purchased.

What's that ammo your holding? It looks familiar. Copper?
