I am also a believer you can snare in the open. I prefer cover But sometimes ya got to do what ya got a got to do to tip one over!
Love the pictures MT!
Here one of the wide open areas I snared a coyote it. I snapped a picture cause I did not think anyone would believe me, That coyote in the picture gave me a lot of confidence in what a person can do in the open with a snare in an open area.
A larger taller loop. And the support anchor a foot or to off the trail is key for open area snaring. The snare looks like it is hanging there by nothing

God Bless

Dustin

I am a firm believer in Break Away Devices
One, you will save some deer and livestock issues....
The second reason I use them is they make the snare way faster! You have 2 more pivot points to take the pressure off the cable.
Iím not going to recommend any ones Breakaway Devices.
You guys have to do the research for yourselves. There are to many suppliers for them out there and they all look the same but few suppliers will tell you what they are supposed to do and at what poundage they are supposed to do it.
So get on the phone call the supplier and ask them what they are selling. Ask em when are they supposed to pop.
Also anchor systems change how they perform. A snare BAD system attached on the top of a rebar kill pole will perform completely different then a snare BAD anchored at ground level to the same piece of rebar.
Kill springs also change how the BADs pop. A kill spring can act a shock spring for the BAD.
No system is perfect. We just got to do the best we can!

God Bless,

Dustin
