Didn't know I needed to wear body armor on the course. I was actually in my fairway for once, when a guy driving his ball on the adjoining hole hit me in the back with his drive. I had just finished taking a practice swing for my 2nd shot. As I was bringing the club back down I saw the ball out of the corner of my right eye. I instinctively tried to turn away as I reached up to try and protect my head with my arms and hands. The ball struck me midway up my back on the right side in the ribs. I went down on all fours and then onto my left side. My friend rushed over and kept asking me if I was ok. I told him as soon as it quits hurting I will be ok. LOL

The guy that hit it never yelled fore. He and his partner came down looking for his ball while I was still sitting on the ground. After it hit me it bounced about 10 feet or so away from me. He asked if his ball had hit me. The smart aleck in me wanted to say something but I didn't. He said he never saw me which I'm not sure I believe. He apologized several times and I told him I would be fine and not to worry about it. Stuff happens!!! Left a nice welt though!!!

I have found that sending it back at them clears things up.

Truth be told you were probably bent over by the water hazard looking for mink sign. He probably didn’t see you.

Surprised it doesn't happen as often on my course. Pretty open course that one could can play from the fairway two holes over and a lot of blind tee shots.

I have no problem admitting to be a golfer. LOL I played on the high school team. I have always enjoyed the game.

I wasn't in too good of shape to immediately send the ball back to them or I might have. LOL I've been hit in the ribs a few times when I played baseball and those hurt but not near as bad as this. That ball was probably traveling well over a hundred miles an hour when it hit me.

Doug, there is a pond on that hole and there are other ponds and a creek on the course. I've seen mink tracks there before. At this same course, when I was on the high school team, we heard a bunch of dogs howling like they were trailing something one day. The howling got louder as the dogs got closer. All of a sudden a red fox came out of the hay field next to the course. The red fox ran across a couple holes and then sat down facing the dogs. He rested for a minute or two and then got up and ran out of sight. Pretty soon here came the dogs with their tongues hanging out hot on the fox's trail. I think that fox was enjoying the chase. LOL

Computer hater be glad my uncle was playing and had my 9yo cousin along when a ball came out of no where and hit the boy on the head right behind the right ear and knocked him stone cold, also caused massive swelling and the doctor put a tube in his ear because of it, when the swelling went down he had lost almost all hearing in that ear and now has to wear a hearing aid in it

Whoever hit that ball must have took off as soon as he seen the boy go down because when my uncle finally had the presence of mind to look around for help the course was deserted

LOL LOL In my younger days I would have just reached up and caught it !!!! LOL Thinking about it, I would say the ball was about 20 feet from me when I saw it coming in my peripheral vision.

I maybe had 1/4 of a second to react. I'm still surprised I saw it although I'm very glad I did. Rather take it in the back than in the chest or face.

Nightlife,

Sorry about your cousin. About 15 years or so my chiropractor took one in the eye. It fractured his eye socket and he had to have a couple surgeries. He almost lost his eye. The doctor told him if it would have been over a couple inches and hit him in the temple that it would have killed him.

I knew there had to be water on the course or you wouldn’t play there. The last time I played we had a big ol rattle snake under a tree along the fairway. The reason I saw him is my drives usually end up in the trees.

I once caught my own ball, I was on a tee and tried to hit a drive across a creek, there was a big rock sticking out of the creek and my drive was very low and hit the rock and the ball came straight back to me and I caught it.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.

Oh yeah, well I played a 167 yard par 3 where my tee shot was long off the back of the green and we were about half way to the green when a grey fox ran up on the green with a ball and dropped it in the hole, then ran away with the ball that was sitting on the green.
