If Biden/Harris wins and then something happens to Biden so he has to resign, etc. so he is no longer in office then Harris would become the new President. Is the VP then the Chair of the House? Pelosi?

This election is about electing the first “black female” president. The fact that she is running as VP is irrelevant at this point.

She was selected because she is a women of color and Biden’s handlers know that is the only chance they have to win. Just like with Obama being the first black president.

Joe's campaign ads should have a disclaimer at the bottom "A vote for Joe is really a vote for Kamala for president".

The Speaker of the House of Representatives is the 3rd in line of succession for the presidency and would become president if BOTH the Pres and VP were lost. When a president steps down or dies in office the VP becomes president and can appoint a new VP. The Speaker does not become the new VP unless appointed by the new president. The last time a president died in office, JFK, Johnson became president but did not appoint a VP and the post remained open until filled by Humphrey as Johnson's running mate.
