That’s the same one I use. Works on everything, I like that it can be used on everything from dove and squirrel all the way up to elk, moose and bear. Really versatile, even have a second one if needed.

Most perfect tool God ever made.
Wife: "What do you like most in me, my pretty face or my sexy body?" He looked at her from head to toe and replied: "I like your sense of humor!"

Or the back straps, tenderloins, neck roast, ribs for sausage meat and scrapple... You can get the backstraps and neck without gutting. But, yes absolutely to the rest.

We stopped gutting deer back in the mid 80's. Messy waste of time, here in the east. Only cuz we quarter them as soon as we get em back to the house. Skin, cut meat/quarters off, dispose of carcass. Out west with muleys and elk that's different situation. Seems like you missing a lot of meat. Never heard of not gutting them here

A quarter means something different to me. To me a quarter is a half cut down the spine then cut again right behind the ribs.
I don't halve and quarter deer like that anymore, I bone them out. But the farmers I help butcher steers and pigs still do it that way.
Eh...wot?
