Never ate blues before. I love channels but I was never fond of flatheads. We call flatheads "mud cats" around here. Always had a dirt flavor to them even when I cut out the dark meat.

I don't know what's more impressive the fish itself or that you're out there with a cast. Either way, cool. I think the cast was after it bit him!

A 10 pounder here is really big. I knew they got huge down south but didn't realize they got that big in MO.

I’ve heard this statement for years. Guys complain about the taste of flatheads. Y’all must be doing something wrong. My buddy’s dad complained about it too. Tried some up and took it to him. He loved it. Once I told him what it was he promised to never throw another one back. Makes me cook them but they don’t go back into the water.
I keep desperately hoping that one day someone will call me "Sir" without adding "please calm down" or "you're causing a scene."

I will throw all the channels I catch back or give them away, I aint that poor or that hungry to eat one. If you didn't like flathead then something went wrong. I cooked a 35 pounder once for a group of folks from New York and they all said what kind of fish was that. It was the best tasting fish they ever had. It was then I knew that anyone who didn't like flathead messed something up while cooking or cleaning it. Blues are very good also. Their my second favorite.
