That would greatly depend on what part of the country you're taking coyotes from.
I've always said, " If Ohio's coyotes were as good as a 'Montana pale', I'd be a lot happier trapping them. "
Thing is though, they are not. There's a world of difference in the quality of the coyotes I catch and a Montana or southern Alberta pale. It's night and day !
Out here, a 'good coyote', means it's better than the rest of the pile...
Still worth trapping, at least, far better than raccoon.
Most of the money I make from coyotes is paid by a homeowner / landowner that wants them gone.
It takes a lot of 'Buckeye' coyote pelts to match the price paid for just one nuisance coyote.

I talked to the quest man the other day and he still has 400 coyotes to sell and so far he hasn't found a market.

Is he going to be longlining again this year
I remember reading somewhere that it had to be profitable or he couldn't do it.

Is calling your local game warden an option?

Apparently he was not a real trapper who traps for fun. I guess there is two of us.

If I know Robert, he will be trapping. He will be getting paid one way or another. He doesn't just blindly trap like I do, since I'm retired! But I have learned a few things from him! lol

There is every reason for them to be cheaper but I wouldn’t bet on 50 percent drop, especially westerns but we will find out soon enough

I thought that traceability crap was ancient history. Haven’t anything about it until you brought it up just now.
