If this ever comes to pass, America will become a second rate nation militarily. Can you image the disadvantage of having a solar-powered tank versus a fossil fuel powered one? Just the power it takes for a tank's operation would mean half of the tank would be filled with batteries. What do we use for aircraft, gliders? We wouldn't have a chance in a war with any country still using fossil fuels.

It has been discussed on here before about all the disadvantages of solar or wind power. For us living in cold climates a solar powered vehicle would not last half as long if you wanted to use your heater in the winter. Traffic jams use up much of your battery's power. Breakdowns would be common. The emergency roadside assistance people would be busy.

The green people lack common sense when it comes to thinking things through. Solar or wind are fine as a supplemental plan, but not a replacement plan.

I'd think an ecotank would be lucky to leave the base unless the it's made of paper mache.

Liberal dream. Internal combustion engines will never be replaced. Sure, a battery car can zoom to the supermarket but isn't going the long haul down the Interstate. And diesel engines will NEVER be replaced in OTR rigs. Shag trucks in a parking lot, yes.
Battery powered construction equipment? I think not.

How about propane-powered vehicles? I've heard they are more air-friendly. Not sure how they compare to diesel or gasoline vehicles; less power, but less pollution?

These "green energy" folks are some of the same people that stand behind BLM. They apparently don't mind the fact that places like the Congo use child labor, yes the children are black, to mine the cobalt used in the batteries for their junk. Green energy is a fantasy the libs are selling. There is a cost for everything.

Main thing is that there's not many stations, I think there's one in town. The few CNG you see are fleet vehicles like UPS or the odd school bus that the schools o probably got a deal on.

On energy, you have to compete on cost and availability for mass consumption. Quality or perceived quality will never work to sell energy.

If hydrogen is included in the green energies then its possible, because hydrogen has a lot of power for the amount used, I’m not exactly sure but I think it can compete or surpass diesel for the amount of power produced for the same amount of fuel. The problem with hydrogen is the production of it, right now it takes a lot of energy to produce hydrogen for fuel but technology is getting better which increases efficiency to produce the hydrogen.

I recently heard or a hydrogen vehicle that had a range that far exceeds today's passenger vehicles.

Never underestimate American ingenuity.

Help yourself.

Isn't hydrogen 20 times more volatile than gasoline ?

If people lived where they worked and got out of the way of truckers that would solve most of the problems and states wouldn't need to be subsidizing folks suburban dream by creating unnecessary infrastructure.

I share all all of your sentiments with the exception of diesel engines NEVER being replaced in OTR rigs.
Go to Asia you will see all sorts of propane or LPG semis with a big battery of gas cylinders sitting behind the cab.
