Due to some shoulder/back issues, my wife is going to shoot a crossbow this year. We got her a Barnett Whitetail 2. I have two questions. What bolt should I buy and will a crossbow like this shoot Magnus Stinger broadheads or do I need to set it up with expandables?

Any other tips for setting up a crossbow?

It should shoot the Magnus fine. The bolts recommend by Barnette for that bow...

Are they as touchy as compounds for tuning?

You'll have to check after you get the bolts. I used fixed blade with my compound. When I got the Mission, the broadhead set back in a channel on the frame at full draw. Had to use mechanical because of clearance issues. 330 is right, use whatever they recommend. Tuning is not really an issue

I was told by my cross bow seller to use bolts that have a NO Nock. I mean It doesn't have a groove that you have to line up on the string. So that's what I use. And I use Rage expendables that are made for cross bows. Sight It In and go to killing deer.

For certain crossbows Beav is correct on only using a flat nock. There are certain brands that a crescent nock is to be used. Definitely read the owners manual before choosing which nock to use.

It is ABSOLUTELY right to use the bolt the manufacturer says to use. Right off the top of my head Excaliburs use the flat nock. Others use half moon while others use a full capture...etc. Without using the proper bolt/nock you stand a good chance of blowing up the crossbow and (most I'm sure) manufacturers won't cover that. Main reason is say the manufacturer says to use a full capture nock and you use a flat nock. The string now has a good chance to jump over the bolt basically dry firing it. (just a for instance certain Mission crossbow models if dry fired you will need to purchase new cams, string and cables and possibly limbs which can cost several hundreds of dollars.
Broadhead wise I personally like fixed blade. Mechanicals seem to be the most requested at the shop. Whichever you chose make sure it is able to NOT open when fired (several companys have made opening slightly "harder" to open so they don't open in flight but when hitting the animal.
Just a personal opinion, a crossbow is not a rifle. Meaning lots of guys (my Dad included) who felt just cause it has a scope you can shoot any distance.
