I'm in a pickle here. Thought by now i would be able a find a new freezer for my venison, fish, hog that will be coming as soon as the season starts. I have a freezer that works like new, only problem is: I have frozen beavers, otters in it.
How can i get the smell out after removing the animals? Is this even possible? Or i'm wasting my time and good meat. Thanks, Sarge

wipe down the inside with vanilla extract. works wonders. Then leave a cotton ball or 2 in there with the extract on it. Found this out when I actually read the pamphlet that came with an igloo cooler I bought a long time ago.

First off I would defrost it,then disinfect it with a good wipe down inside of bleach water/dish soap, sponge rinse, dry off and let it air out for a couple days. Then you could do the vanilla trick. I do this with all my freezers every couple years.

Get some Activated Charcoal and put it in the freezer.
I had a fridge that meat rotted in it -- smelled terrible, a few days of the charcoal and smell gone !
