Was the oil full of fuel?

My father was a tractor mechanic, he used to take diesel engines apart @ our farm one week and put them back together a couple weeks later. I have a hard time taking a bicycle tire off and putting back on a week later.

I had that on my IH 240 on the 9th of August, but mine was a seal blown in hydraulic pump, runs off crank, so crankcase filled with hydraulic oil. My replacement pump just came today, I waited three weeks for a back ordered seal kit and broke down and paid the extra $550 for the pump, can't leave it open any longer.

Dad has a 2640 here, row crop version, taller tires. I've rode it a lot over the years. Used to plow and fertilize tobacco 2 row with a 2840 for a friend years ago it was slick with that high low lever on the dash, lol, good times. Good luck with the rebuild and dont put the clutch disc in backwards dont ask me how I know

Why didn't you just pull the pan off and pressurize the system.

I've had that happen 3 or 4 times on 3020 and 4020's. Them o'rings used to be some pretty expensive rubber.

Fish dog waiting for parts sucks, jarentz there’s times I procrastinate but falls here so no waiting,joco1995 this has the two speed as well I noticed the plate was different, wr Otis I did and the water was pouring down the number 3 sleeve but it might have been coming down a oil port also not sure because I couldn’t build enough pressure to watch it so we’ll find out in a couple of days, Stanley its at about 6500 so it’s due, Fox paw I believe the Orings are still pricey I never really asked about those specifically just asked about the kit I love the old 4000s simple and big enough that its easy for me to work on.

Spent a great amount of time on a 2640 scraping barn yard. The 2640 & 2840 are great tractors. Spent many hour with both. As with anything that is used, general maintenance is needed. Some maintenance is just more pricey then others.
