Make sausage if you have to! ... I've never had a bad tasting black bear yet. 330-Trapper even eats brown bear, I've witnessed it. I don't know if I'd trust his sense of taste Hey! You tried to Mark...Hahaha

long as he is not eating used diapers! A few with young kids in town, but my dog eats crap sometimes too...lol Diapers likely make up 0.00002% of his diet so i dont think I am concerned. Lots of people around here would give you crap for eating a "garbage bear". I always say that bears are designed to eat anything, and even if they eat garbage they are eating the same food you ate, but threw away! So you will eat it, but wont eat a bear that ate it?? Hes going down and everyone will be happy for it.

I have 2 buddies that have bear tags and they both said I could have the meat If they kill one. Both have good bears working their baits. So I started up one of my freezers this morning. Season opens next Wed.

Considering how fussy they can get on a bait site I believe they eat what they like or is healthy for them, go after it.

I've eaten bear 3 times from 3 different cooks. Each time I was told theirs was the best. Bear and timber wolf top the the list for me of the worst tasting wild meat I've ever eaten. I've eaten cougar, muskrat, beaver, etc.
IMO, bear made into some sausages is tolerable, although not by much.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

Nothing wrong with bear meat, spring or fall. If you eat it on a regular basis you will notice you will have more vigour and stamina.I dont know why a diet of bearmeat provides that particular benefit but it is noticeable after a couple weeks regular diet of bearmeat. I never found it necessary to eat a dump bear or town bear.Plenty of bears far from people for the taking. Hard to beat a nice spring grass fed or a fall blueberry fed blackbear. I prefer it either cooked in sauce in the oven or in a nice stew.

The bear I shot in the fall some years ago was just as good as any venison I've ever ate, possibly better.

Meat is meat-pigs,chickens,fish,ducks,geese etc eat some nasty stuff. Ya, I imagine some of those toronto waterfront geese eat some real crap They taste different the natives say that have been homeless and eaten them. I've spoke to many, and many have discussed it in books. And yes, these are Toronto specific stories. The geese stay there all year, the sewage keeps the water open. That's where they live and eat most of the year except in the warmth of summer for a short while, and they can get fresh food then for once. That's when they are best if you can't catch a non-local.
