Can this be done due to it being a cast jaw? Cast is not very friendly to weld, unfortunately due to the jaw spread being 6 1/8” they are not legal as is in my state.

Just curious if anybody has tried this yet?

No but I can see cast being a pain in the butt to weld. I don't understand his reasoning that the 1/8 of an inch would make more people buy the trap than having it 6 inches to where it can be used in so many more states.

Put a tape measure on one and you’ll see it’s 6” exactly at the dog

My understanding is cast steel is fine to weld on. Its the cast iron that is a bit tricky. But maybe Lee or another more knowledgeable welder will respond.

Yes you can there's plenty of live market guys who laminated Cast Jaw MB's. Cast steel and and cast iron are two different things apparently

cast steel jaws will weld same as any steel jawed trap. iron is a whole different process. just use a mig setup.

If this is correct, no need to weld them.
