Quick backstory...my wife lost her job during all this crap going on. Just a hurdle that life has thrown at us. We have always loved vacationing in florida and i know she has been looking at jobs down there. What can anyone tell me about the trapping and hunting opportunities? Thanks

I know you can’t use footholds there.

Other than that I’m not sure about trapping.

Only place you can kill an Oceola turkey.

Looks like you can use snares and box traps.

No fox trapping

You you can make a whole lot of money catching exotic reptiles, amphibians and fish and selling them in the rest of the country. Tegu, iguanas, pythons, peacock bass, oscars and a lot of other cichlids, plecostomus, anoles, geckos, walking catfish, electric catfish, cane toads and many species of escaped, small fish have decent value elsewhere.

Your best bet is it get on with APHIS or someone like that if you want to trap a lot. Snares only unless you get a steel trap permit that the LAND OWNER has to get not the trapper. Hogs and yotes year round. If you are wanting to start Your own trapping businesses stick to east coast and south. West palm and down. More exotic and invasive. Not sure what your wife or your working background but plenty of jobs to pick up in all categories. Booming economy right now except for mom and pop restaurant and bars.

There is a bounty but money to be made is 8+ft. With the bounty program if you can get registered but you would be competing with a decent amount of ppl. If you could find a buyer for skin than you would be in the green with your time invested. Also skulls do well along with other exotics like iguanas. Large skulls can pull $75.

I'd think the gators would be deadly on pythons. Wouldn't they share the same habitat? I'll let the gators have'em!

Too busy down there for me. My buddy and his crew are up here in the mountains for a couple weeks building a house. His crew are begging him to stay longer. They love it up here and can't believe how much cooler the weather is. He says he's leaving Florida for good in a few years. I enjoy visiting his place but only for the turkeys, hogs and other stuff that I can shoot. Wayyyyy too hot for my liking, way too many mosquitoes, way too many gators and snakes. I will say that coon would be an easy target for a trapper as they seem to be everywhere.

Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

Getting on private land could be a problem. Anything public would likely be a game preserve.

That would be the big issue. Every square inch of Florida is spoken for with folks from all over wanting access for something or other.
