Eventually everything winds up in the ocean. I’m quite sure that isn’t true. At least in the US. Maybe it is true for Canada. No,its true for the entire planet. Google the North Pacific Gyre-a lot of that garbage originated from California.

I think about it every time I go to the city. I see all the trash and all the cars burning gas . Almost unbelievable. I can understand how someone living in that day after day thinks we only have 12 years left. After visiting and a few miles out from the city I fell sorry for so many people that never live and see the clean clear blue skies I do. With that said I hope they stay where they are.,

14 billion tons of garbage is dumped in the ocean each year. I believe that, since 80% of earth is ocean. I do know medical waste is very hard to get rid of.. They don't want it in a regular landfill.

The day will come, and not too long from now, when all those landfills will be mined for the "waste" resources buried in them. I agree with that too, and I've said it myself. It cannot be re-used for food products though. It is unsanitary.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

There’s a big dump north of I 80 near Penfield, Pa. Lots of 18 wheelers hauling from the East (New Jersey ?) and dumping there. Many of the drivers are foreign nationals, barely speaking English. I’m not sure how they get a CDL.
Twenty plus years ago near Butler,Pa, a Bosnian guy hauling garbage hit a van with a family of five, killing everyone. He ran a stop sign, had a CDL from Utah. There was a big investigation as to how he got a DL. Yup a lot fo NY and NJ coming into that dump. They've made a ton of money fining hauling companies coming in with out proper permits and stuff. Trucks started coming in, in the middle of the night and parking along the access road to the dump. So the township made the road a township road and had the police set up on it. The township it's in doesn't want for anything.... Need a new firetruck.... Here ya go. Need this need that... It's yours. I'm not sure if they're using the methane for anything. Occasionally you'll drive by it and be able to smell it, but for the most part you'd never it's there.

Around here it is old quarries. They put a liner in the pit then start dumping in garbage. Any dirt contaminated with diesel, motor oil, gasoline, gets piled up in the open for awhile then it is used to cover the garbage. They just keep layering it. Big pipes are laid in to vent off the methane. Usually methane is just burned like excess oil well gas in a big torch. Some is pumped off I don't what they do with it. Takes decades to fill a big quarry back in. Then the property is developed with apartment building, strip malls etc.
Boco, we are too far from any oceans to dump garbage in.
There is a huge dump on the west side of Kansas City . Just west of 435 right above the Kaw river if you want to look at it on google earth. The Kaw dumps into the Missouri just a few miles from the dump. Once again the dump is ontop the bluff that borders the river. Several thousands of tons of household waste are dumped up there every day. Its not good.

Canton, Michigan has been taking garbage from Canada for quite a few years. Canada pays for it to be shipped there. Its a huge mountain.
Its thought that the last Wolverine was shipped here via: trucked in with the garbage.

I was in Oconomowoc when the ski hill was built, and it was not garbage, scraped out a lake and a pond to build that hill. I think the landfill in Ozaukee County was made into a ski hill.

Antrim Pa has a lot of old mine shafts that they (are filling or have filled) they drain off the liquid sent to the water plant and that goes into the susquehana river. But all this is suppossed to be construction waste. so they say, I do not know the status of that place now......jk

I have toured the Waste Management facility outside of Denver. My daughter worked for them. They separate and recycle much of their waste before placing it in a giant lined land fill. Methane recovery powers the site and extra is sold back to the grid. Their trucks run on methane as well.
