Depends on how many cars you are junking. Brake rotors and drums are an easy to remove piece of clean cast iron. Ac condensers are easy to pull out.

For all you guys that do or have scrapped junk vehicles. What all do you guys pull from the vehicle to sell separately to make more money? I have scrapped some in the past and always take off the aluminum rims, the battery, that catalytic converters and sometimes the radiator. Not sure if I’m missing anything I should be cashing in on I recently scrapped an 89 Dodge Ram 50 after the upper swing arm assembly detached from the frame due to extreme rusting. I listed it as a parts truck on Facebook Marketplace. I ended up selling the engine and tranny to to a guy in Maryland who had the same truck but without the rust issues. I tried to get him to sell me his truck but he wouldn't do it. I sold the body panels to a guy in NJ that wanted them for his race truck. I sold the wheels to a guy from Harrisburg, PA that wanted them for his trailer. I sold the cat converter separately and hauled the rest to the junkyard.
Eh...wot?

The scrap yard here varies extremely depending on the market, i.e what they can get for it. When scrap iron is high they'll pay $100 per vehicle without requiring anything. When scrap iron is low, they'll take cars for free OR pay $30 if you drain the fluids, leave the cat in, etc. Each metal has it's own market and price. Sometimes catalytics, or copper or aluminum or lead might be more valuable even when the junk iron isn't. If you've got a batch of car-casses and copper is up but iron is down, it might be worth selling the radiators, starters and alternators and hanging on to the rest. Just depends. I just call the local yard and ask them what they're paying for what.
Boco couldn't catch a cold. But if he did, it would be Top Lot.

The scrap yard I’m hauling too has never checked any of the vehicles I brought in before to see if I have removed anything. X2

I work at a salvage yard and the price for complete cars is higher than one stripped.down. a complete car has to have everything but the battery. We sell used parts off some and crush a lot of the undesirable vehicles. If your yard isn't checking it would be my guess they are just crushing everything. They are probably not paying as much as we do. We take rotors, drums, wheels, batteries and cats off all cars before crushing.
Wish I had more time to trap....

All depends on the vehicle. The junk ones go by the ton. The ones that are part worthy can be more. All depends on the number we have in stock. You would be surprised what people will sell a vehicle for. I bought a jeep liberty that ran and drove. Paid $75 for it and snagged a few parts from the yard, drive it for a year and sold it for $1200. I see this all the time. People don't know how to fix stuff themselves and a mechanic charges more than what they think it is worth. In most cases the Cats pay for the vehicle 2x over and everything else is money in the bank. Most people.dont have the place or time or knowledge to strip a car down to make the most. That is why a salvage yard can make money.
Wish I had more time to trap....
