I’ve researched them quite a bit. Seen one in action. What I’ve learned is you get what you pay for. If money wasn’t an issue I’d get Pulsar Thermion XP50. If money was a bit of an issue I’d get Pulsar Thermion XM50 . I wouldn’t waste my time buying the $1000 ones but that’s just me.

I'm currently running an atn thor 4 , I have used pulsar and trijicon ir hunters as well. The trijicon is awesome but expensive. Atn and pulsar both have pros and cons to each other

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

I’ve never used any other brand than my pulsar XD50. My big complaint with it is the depth perception, it’s hard to tell how far away something is. Just curious why you recommend against them?

Following this thread, I am also interested in people’s thoughts on what thermal scope they would recommend and personal experiences, looking at calling coyotes on Cold winter nights in open farm country in Minnesota. Looking to spend $2 to 3K. What are your thoughts?

I have absolutely 0 complaints with my Flir PTS Pro233. Been using it 2 years now. I use it all year long too. Works great in the summer heat/humidity all the way down to well below 0 in the winter. Flir has stopped production of the hunting lines of thermal optic scopes now though. But a bunch of the Flir outdoor guys started their own line of thermals. It's called AGM. I picked up a handheld for scanning and it's pretty slick.

I just bought the Bering Optics Hogster 35 mm. Great scope for the money. My brother runs the ATN thermal and he told me the hogster is a decent scope for the money

1/4 the price and just as good is the ATN - Thor LT I own both. So far I've shot yotes, bobcats, and a pile of coon with the Thor 2 x 8 HD unbelievable tech.

I have had an ATN Thor HD 384 for several years. I mostly use it as a spotter and for engineering/thermal investigations at work. I dont use it as a rifle scope although it has that capability. I just havent had the desire or need to shoot at night. It has alot of uses in the woods, on the water and around the house. If youre looking for a varmint hunting rig, I would not recommend mine, I would get higher resolution. Small animals get really grainy when you zoom up.

I have the ATN THOR HD 640x480 2.5x25 and it works very well and has great resolution. I have the external rechargeable battery that fastens to the stock with velcro straps so I don't worry about battery life. I was messing around not long ago and put it on a .22 and tried shooting rats at a friends cattle barn. There were huge holes chewed in the walls and rats running inside the walls. Here is a short video of what an animal looks like in the scope. White for sure, the .22 had a suppressor so it was quiet fun too.

I've looked into these pretty thoroughly and I've come to the conclusion that they are all way to dang expensive!!!!

I have this Bering Hogster R 35mm lense thermal. It is very clear. I bought a battery pack that mounts to the rail on my AR. The sight clips to the rail on my AR. I sighted it at 100 yards and put it away. I put t on a month later and it was right on. I got it this spring - to late to do much but I have watch raccoons, foxes, and lots of other night time thing like bats with it. I can see everything clearly. I had no idea things were so easy to see. This is changing my way of hunting. I called a fox from about 200 yards away to about 40 yards then he ran off and I called him back. The brightness of the thermal will ruin your vision for a while if it is dark out.

Just passin through

You can turn the brightness down on mine.

I have the pulsar core RXQ30V and used it all last winter. It was right at 2K for a price. It has done everything I need it to do and well. It has a picture in picture display for a zoom with crosshairs in both. I used a phone battery pack and strapped it to the stock of my AR for better battery life. It lasted a few nights before I needed to charge it. The one thing it doesn't have is the ability to record your hunt. I am very happy with it and the Coyotes hate it!

What are some of the issues you are having with them? and what model did you have? I have been looking at them and would like a little more insight on them before I purchase one.

Not sure on the truth behind it but I have heard from a number of people on other websites that ATN has terrible customer service an a attitude when you have issues with their products. if true something you may want to consider before buying their product.

I shoot plenty of hogs during the day but shooting them at night is interesting.

What about the Sighmark Wraith? It's $500 and gets some decent reviews.
