Hi Everyone. I am currently looking for a new deer hunting rifle and have it narrowed down to a tikka t3 (not the t3x), a howa 1500, and a weatherby vanguard in .243.
I have done a fair amount of research, like a classic wood stock, and am leaning toward one of them. I might be able to handle the weatherby soon.
For those of you who have or have had one of these rifles, any advice or info pro or con?
Thanks in advance!

I bought a tikka t3 hunter , wood stock . in 243 awhile back. Its action is 10x smoother then a howa style. It will also shoot a 1/4 inch group with handloads.
Buy the Tikka you wont be disappointed. My father has a couple vanguards they shoot lights out also, but the action and trigger plus sako barrel is where tikka wins IMO.

Thanks, Northmocats. My first pick is the t3 because I was able to handle one and it felt great. I do not know much about the howas. My only concern about the t3 is the plastic mag. If I get a chance to handle the weatherby that would be cool.
Appreciate the info!

I think Howa is a weatherby..?

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

Its not even close. Get the Tikka hands down. Every one Ive owned has shot better than I can. My wife has a Tikka 30/06 and I just had it out a few days ago. It will put 2 into the same hole at 100. A gun collector friend brought his borescope over last winter and had a look inside the barrels our Tikka rifles. He said the bores were like glass, and easily the best he had ever seen.

I have a Tikka in 6.5 x 55 swede. Probably one of my best shooting guns.

I have personally handled a Tikka and it was smooth as glass. It's what I would buy

Ok, thanks all. T3 is it unless I handle the weatherby and I am greatly moved by it

I've had a Tikka and a Howa, the Tikka is a far better gun in my experience.
