I love those. Here they call them death trumpets. We cook them with some heavy cream over pasta.

Did you find them popping up on buried maple roots? That's the only place I've found them here sometimes they are so thick you can see where the roots fork underground. Just wondering.

Oaks actually.

Mixed forest, but they were more around oaks.

Gotta love mycorrhizal fungi

I spent max three hrs picking this weekend. Found literally acres of them.

Crazy good year for them
