Make sure you use real scalp locks sewn on for fringes.

Boco... I traded for a Fisher skin hat back in 1982 at a Rendezvous in Tennessee...there were blond and brown real hair locks off each side. Wrapped with red felt and sinus. The Trader told me he cut his Daughters long hair to make those!!!

True story!

The real war shirts in the museums have actual scalp locks(tanned scalp) not just the hair. They are small 1 inch circles of tanned scalp sewn all along the arms and shoulder area of the warshirt-they look really neat.
The copies have horsehair and dont look anything like real human scalp locks.

I heard the last guy supplying them went out of buisness quite a few years ago-guy name of Gein out of Wisconsin.

Impressive necklace.
Having dug some beads in archaeological sites it is always interesting to find them on where the thread rotted out and they are laying there for 200+ years.
The real finds are when a pattern is found from a lost Patch to go on a vest.

Was it not the trade for a skeene of beads for a beaver hide ?

50 It varied tremendously over time and place, tribe etc how much beads were worth in trade.

You will notice one strand of micro white hearts they could well be the oldest beads in the bunch possibly 1700s.

Are they the ones with the green translucent centers and the brick red exterior?
