I have been in a constant fight the past few years with this stuff! I was told to spray the young sprouting plants with Round Up. It will kill them supposedly. I sprayed them with it and it seemed to invigorate them if anything. Next, I'm going to try spraying the young plants with a strong solution of Crossbow.

I've been cutting the largest plants off at ground level and painting them with undiluted Crossbow and that seems to kill them.

Anybody have any solutions for this invasive species?

I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

I have about 20+ acres of woods in my backyard. I would hate to burn it. You know what a potential problem that could be.

The big problem with noxious plant control is often your neighbors. When you have neighbors that won't control noxious plants, on their property, you're property will constantly be reinvaded. When I lived in Dayton, Ohio, the neighbor on my right did no weed control and had Japanese knotweed planted against my fence to make things worse. I used to treat about half their front yard to give my yard a weed free buffer.

Fortunately we don't have buckthorn here yet. We do have big problems with bush honeysuckle, autumn olive and poison hemlock.

I don't have any neighbors within a half mile. I also have a prickly ash problem which the buckthorn seems to be crowding out. Prickly ash is just as bad as buckthorn, but easier to kill and doesn't spread as rapidly as buckthorn.

You have to spray a fresh cut, even and hour after retards effectiveness.
