picked this up and it looked too interesting not to take. Appears to be some sort of grinder maybe. All cast iron w/ cone shaped spindle inside with exit spout below. Only markings I can see are 'no. 2' on handle and 'CM 3' on base. Starting a lot of old school food prepping at our weekend home stead. Hope it is food related.

Looks like to grind grain (probably corn) into meal. AKA a mill
Too small for cattle feed.
Throw some shelled corn in and give it a few cranks and see what happens.

Hand mill for grinding various grains, usually for animal feeds.

Grist mill, for making your own cornmeal.

Ummm, pig castrator?

I keep desperately hoping that one day someone will call me "Sir" without adding "please calm down" or "you're causing a scene."

Thanks all! This one has thumb screw adjustment on one side. Do they grind fine enough for flour. My son wants to make some acorn flour for a foodie project. Need to break it done and clean it well first a little rusty inside.

I have 2. A very large one which uses a wide belt pulley.
The small one was rigged to run on a Gilson 5 hp lawnmower. The guy used it to grind chicken feed. It would not grind flour.
Yours probably would when new.
Looks like something grandma would clamp to a table in the summer kitchen. Not big and tough enough for the men folk. lol
