Can someone send me in the right direction to purchase fresh/pure coyote urine by the gallon? This will be my 3rd year at trapping coyotes and have only caught 2 so far but have had a few sprung traps and refusals such as footprints close to the set but no committing. Just looking to try something a little better than what I have been using.

You're going to get a lot of different opinions. I like to use Lesel Reuwsaat's urines.

If better urine is the solution to misses and refusals I'll take a couple gallons myself!

Maybe we should also talk about how much urine you are using. There are alot of big time coyote trappers that don't buy urine by the gallon. How many sets are you making that you use urine at and how much are you using at each set?

too much urine is a non starter if using real coyote urine. it will just be a waste of good lure. You only need a small amount to be effective but a whole bunch will still work too.





Buy from someone who is doing the collecting. They should be happy to show you a picture of their collection pens if your getting it shipped. Their is a LOT more coyote pee sold than there is coyote pee being collected. Dealers buy artificial urine and then sell it as natural or even mix up their own concoction. I think sometimes dealers dont ask any questions when buying "urine" wholesale so they can look their self in the eye when they shave of a morning. It is common to add water to it as well.

To reiterate: buy from someone who is collecting it

Hoosier trapping supply has good coyote urine. Well always has worked well enough for me. Just a small squirt will last a set for several days. Don't see the need to drown the backing in urine. If I measured how much I use at a set probably would guess a ounce.

Normally just half a squirt from a flip top bottle or a couple spays if i have a spray top on the backing.

Very few guys out there who actually collect their own. But their is a tremendous difference in the real good stuff and wholesale urine.

Ive bought urine, lure and lure making ingredients from over a dozen trapping supply companies. Ive collect my own urine and im probably close to 400 test sets in the last 3 years. And i will say there's a lot of inferior products being sold to trappers in the name of profit. Testing lures and buying and comparing ingredients has been shocking to me. I truly wish it wasn't that way in this great group of people but I'm sharing my experience for what its worth. And I find it disturbing when I see someone recommend a product that I know for a fact it is subpar because I have it setting on my shelf and ive tested it.

Danny gave great advise, buy from the guy that will answer your phone call himself and collects his own. If he collects his own and has great products he will be proud to talk to you and send you pics of his hard work.

I would buy from someone who collects there own and sell it but I don't know of anyone.

We collected urine years back and it's not an easy deal.

I can verify that the urine Trevor Barnes has is the real deal. I bought a pint of both fox and coyote and tested it in sand blows. They like it!

I mainly buy from John Graham, but have also bought from Wayne Derrick, Mark June, Kaatz Bros.,F&T, Maraks of Iowa, Andy Weiser and probably many more I don’t recall, but they all caught coyotes.

I wouldn't put all the blame on the urine Issue. Lots of coyotes have been caught with out the use of urine.
Lack of guiding at the set Is one factor that will make or break you when It comes to catching any critter. And the more natural the set Is the better your changes a critter will work that set. I've caught coyotes and fox where I didn't use bait lure or urine. The fresh dirt at the set was what got those critters caught.

Like I said don't put the blame on what urine you use.

Some hard to catch coyotes will refuse and avoid urine at times Had a couple in the last few weeks on a job like that. Made new sets without urine and bingo.
