Have been trying to stay away from getting a real cell phone. I have a small flip trac fone for emergency phone that I mostly keep in my car/truck. I do not use it for a phone, since I still use my house phone. But I am going on a hunt next weekend and am getting a phone from a buddy who is updating. I need to get pictures of my mom and grandson off my phone and sent to one of my kids. I have about 16 meg of storage currently vs 128 gig on the newer one. A camera & video will be nice since it is much easier than carrying an actual camera and then I can download to a file. Anybody finding any carrier better than others ? I do not want to spend $70/mo or more like others do. I do not live and carry my phone like a body extension but it might make sitting on deer watch a little easier.Haha

Just take the plunge. A $1000 will get you started. Then $87/mo minimum just to keep it going.

No way !!!!! My buddy is upgrading to a 5G ph and I am getting his 4 mo old 4G ph for $200. That will be fine for me until 4G goes by the way side. I refuse to spend that kind of money for a cell fone plan. Hoping I can get my daughter and husband to go in on a 4 phone plan with my wife and save some money.

My buddy sold me his old 5g for $75. But he flips fones for fun money after buying at flea market s.
You’d be wise to find someone on Craigslist that scrubs and flips fones IME.
Then our Verizon plan is $50/mo.

My local Verizon store always moves photos from fone to fone or to a thumb drive.

My phone is for getting and making calls.
I dont want anything else out of it.

we just got new phones , Verizon , plan but went thru Walmart , save 400 , on same plan as Verizon store

so mr ed try going to walmart with both phone an ask there , verizon store wanted to charge us to move photo from one phone to another

Is straight talk still a thing? It used to be 45/month for unlimited everything and you could buy an off brand “smartphone” for 75 bucks or so. Can buy service through walmart or have it automatically added every month.

Yes, that's what I have. JMO, but the best deal is to buy a two to three year old flagship model (200-400) if you want the bells and whistles type phone and go with one of the pay as you go monthly plans (50ish).

I guess I'm a somewhat heavy user as I do all my business from my phone. Email, invoicing, light word processing, etc.

I like Samsung phones and my current is a Note 9.

In addition to the above use the phone until the wheels fall off before considering a replacement. My last was a Note 4. I figure my next will be a Note 20 about five years from now.

That's gotta be someone local scamming customers for extra cash. I've never paid for them to move content at Verizon or others.
