i did 25 this year. wife decided she wanted to can them instead of freeze them. we can't eat a whole chicken since there is only two of us.cut the wings into pieces and into there own bag. legs and thighs into there own bags. breast cut and jared. saved some freezer space. i built a plucker last year.working on a scalder now!

Fine looking batch of birds, JP, you folks did a crack-up job.
One of my earliest memories was of a butchering day back in the mid 50's. Me dad was chopping and tossing the fryers, my mother would wait til they'd quit flopping and grab them to dip in the scalding pot, and I would do whatever a 2-3 year old does. My dad had whacked one's head off and tossed it into the burn barrel, so I climbed up and looked in at the pile of heads......and the freshest one blinked!
Scalded, wet, steaming chicken feather smell is not a pleasant smell. It instantly takes me back to that blinking fryer head in the burn barrel. My Bride always tosses the skin on chicken, so when we are lopping off heads I skin them all so there is no dipping involved!

LOL, yup lots of blinking heads in the buckets here too lol. How long does it take you to skin a chicken?

Those look great JP. I miss doing a batch of meat birds, but we are in the suburbs for a while yet. I did 2 dozen last year - received 25 birds, had 2 die (one spraddle leg chick and one mysterious at 5 weeks). Butchered myself I think I did 10 on the first day and a week later finished them off. Ours went 10/11 weeks and all carcasses were between 5 lbs (hens) and 6.25 lbs (roosters) My finished product did not look as nice as yours, that's for certain, very impressive.
Just happy to be here.

What do you used to shrink wrap then so neatly? A vacuum seal machine or something else. Great job. When I was managing the game farm/shooting club... we did average 75 to 100 per week during season. That was pheasant and ducks.

Garry- Thanks! I used poultry shrink wrap bags. Put the chicken in the bag, zip tie it shut, dunk the whole chicken in hot water in a big pot for about 8 seconds, then pull it out. The bag shrinks to the chicken nice and tight!
