Well New York once again has gone to a new and improved "Decals" company to purchase sporting licenses. So on the second day (August 11) I made my call. Had a hard time getting through, but finally did and talked to a man in Texas that was not the sharpest tack in the drawer. I purchased my hunting, trapping, and fishing licenses, plus two deer management permits (DMP's). I waited and waited and received nothing. Finally an envelope from DEC arrived. Inside were the carcass tags for the DMP,s nothing else, no licenses, no permits I then called Decals to complain and they told me they would reference me back to DEC headquarters in Albany. Not one word. Visited the DEC office in Warrensburgh this morning, however they will not let you come in.Fortunately a kindly lady came to the door and told me they did not deal with licenses there. She did give a contact phone number for the Albany headquarters. Also my fisher permit application. Got home and in the mail is another envelope from DEC. Good. Opened it and inside were my carcass tags for deer and bear. Nothing else. No licenses, no permits. Called the Albany number, but can't talk to a real person, only a recording, "All of the agents are talking with other people". All of my licenses have expired, I purchased renewals in early August, and I can't even go fishing legally. And I'm supposed to have faith????

All of my licenses have expired, I purchased renewals in early August, and I can't even go fishing legally. And I'm supposed to have faith???? I have called Albany three times and have gotten different excuses? The last one told me I didn't need to carry a license, just tell the Encon. Officer your license number and they can look it up? I told her that's not what the regs. say. I called my local Encon. Officer, he say no... license must be carried while hunting, fishing and trapping. He had me call Syracuse LE Office, they told me i should have my licenses in 3-4 weeks! I also called Cortland about my Fisher Trapping Permit, which I was told I would have it by Sept. 15? She told me they should go out next week? The incompetence of the NYSDEC is astounding! I have Congestive Heart Failure, this could be my last season... license or no license, I'm going to fish and trap regardless! I paid for my licences, I'll carry the receipt.

Y’all don’t have an app? We just pull up the app on the phone and show the GW. The only thing not automated is our trapping license...mail in, but normally only takes a week to get your license back.

Just before we sold our store, the DEC called my mother-in-law to inform her that they were experiencing glitches with the new and improved system. some of the licenses would print fine and some would only print some of the panels. This was all corrected a week before we sold the store. That was 4 weeks ago. Town clerks typically sell licenses also.
The way to make a small fortune in business is to start with a large one.

I went to Dick's sporting goods and bought my licenses and they printed them out right there for me cause I knew there was going to be some sort of online glitch due to the Covid. Is that you, Joe ? w

The printing on our licences seem to fade after a few months and difficult to tell which licence it's even for. Bought a sportsman's licence (fishing and small game) this spring and now I can't even read what it says on it. I can purchase a duplicate but why should I if I paid for it in the first place?
