I understand that (2) otter harvest authorizations will be issued with each trapping license, to be used in either Southern/Northern zones.
Question: Will we be issued tags at some point or just required to do online/call-in registration?

So then no tags need to be attached to the otter by the trapper this year?

It appears you just register and i'm sure you get a confirmation number or something you just write on the paper tag in the picture.

Here's the where the CITES Tag comes from but nothing mentioned about tagging:

Physical registration with a conservation warden or other authorized DNR staff is still a mandatory requirement. Trappers must report their otter by phone or online within 24 hours of harvest. These requirements allow the department to monitor otter harvest throughout the season. If the harvest approaches the season quota, the department can shut down the season early to ensure the approved quota isn't exceeded

Our former Fur bearer biologist was a otter protectionist.

Pretty sure the warden will put the CITES tag on when registered in person.

I left WI and am now leading the wildlife degree program at College of the Ozarks. I hope I am able to bring my experience, my successes and failures, into the classroom and train the next generation of professionals. I’m working with students primarily from the Ozarks region, where I grew up, and many of them are just like I was 25 years ago. It’s big change for me, but I’m very excited about it.
It’s good to know I am missed. I’ve been on this site since “before the crash” and will be around here still.
On a somewhat related aside - I was either the first or second recipient of the Charlie Dobbins memorial scholarship back around 20’ish years ago. That was a big honor for me and I hope that investment in a kid from the Ozarks paid off for the NTA and the Dobbins family.
Keep in touch.
Nathan
